Hi Sam,
Yes it is best to have an appointment with your primary physician. You may ask your parent's help for this. Taking analgesics for headaches is not good when used for long periods of time. Your headaches need to be assesed. Also, vision problems, sinus and ear problems need to be ruled out as they make cause headaches.Do you use eye glasses? Any problems with vision ? Any nasal discharge or eye tearing ?Any allergies or trauma due to sports related activities?
Eat well and don't skip meals. Take lots of water and do regular exercises. If you have any concerns, talk to someone you can rely on , since stress and anxiety may cause headaches. Read with adequate lighting and avoid staying in front of a computer's glaring screen for long periods of time.
I am 31 and suffer from migraines. My daughter is almost 12 and she has them too. I know that the doctors told her that since she got them when she was young there is a good chance that she will out grow them. So that is something to look forward to. If over the counter meds are not working maybe you should see your doc for migraine medication. I put it off for a long time before I did. Once you find what works it will really make a difference. I know that they are very painful - I know how you feel. Dont put it off...ask your parent(s) to make you a appointment soon.
