Is anyone here an abdominal migraine sufferer, or a family member of one? We have been dealing with this for 6 years and nothing seems to keep the attacks away...He has had many hospital stays, and many more er visits, lots of tests and they all come up negative...Currently he is on Depakote, and Toprol 2x daily..He has Zofran tabs and Imitrex pens for when he is having the migraine...Sometimes the home medications work, but we usually end up in the er where they give him a big dose of Thorazine and some Benadryl to knock him out. I pick him up 6-8 hours later, I care for him at home till it passes, and we wait for the next one...We have eliminated several foods--coffee, chocolate, late night snacking..that were causing it...But I feel like were still missing something...
I'm here looking for ideas, things we haven't tried yet...The attacks are sometimes preceded by numbness in his face and arm, causes his eye to squint up and water. The attacks always happen in the morning. He has vomiting, diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, sweating, shaking, writhing, and his heart rate drops into the 40s. It doesn't make sense to me that his heart rate drops that far when he is in pain, it should go up...
Any insight or help is appreciated. thanks :)
