Migraines run in the family....yay!

So lately my migraines have been more frequent. I did just recently go through my 1st miscarriage so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Anyway, migraines run on my mom's side of the family....she has them, I have them and my little sister has them. I have never been on any prescription meds for them but I am considering them now.

Any advice or reviews on migraine meds will be a big help!

Hi,
How are you? I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Migraines usually respond to rest, ice pack, avoidance of triggers and pain medications. Hormonal changes may be a factor in your case. With regards to medicines, both abortive and preventive prescription medications are usually indicated. Taking too much pain medications may also trigger headaches, so it is best that you see your doctor for proper evaluation. As mentioned by selma, a headache journal is indeed very helpful in identifying the trigger or pattern of your headache. Take care and best regards.

Hi...one suggestion I would give b4 u start meds...is keep a journal...of the weather, what u ate and did when u had a migraine how long it lasted etc.,....to see if there is a pattern or a trigger.

This may help dx the type of HA's u actually have.

  Good luck
