Nobody can figue this out

I have phases of sharp, crushing type pain on the right side of my head. My doctor thought it was trigeminal nueralgia. The pains come and go. Was prescribed gabapentin, but it didn't help. When I have the pains I take ibuprofen and that helps some. I seem to have other parts of my body affected by a nueralgia type pain that is very sensitive to touch. These also come and go. My doctor can't figure it out. Along with the pains I usually just want to do nothing but sleep. I need some direction as to what to do. My kids are getting sick of me saying Mommy has head pains again. HELP!!!!  I haven't seen a nueralogist yet, just my internist. Please Help!!!

this really does sound like triegeminal not every medication prescribed for trigeminal works for every one you have to keep trying till u find one that works. I am on Tegretol and that works pretty good. i also sleep all the time when i am having an episode thank god have not had a severe one in several years. i suggest you go see nuerologist because family doctors do not have the education to help you get diagnosed

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

For how long have you been experiencing the headaches?

Any conditions, events, activities that trigger the onset?

Have you experienced headaches before but of different character? Would you say that the character has progressed?

A complete physical examination and medical history will be able to help classify your headaches. At these point , there are several differentials to consider ( migraines may present severely with associated increased sensitivity to pain that even light touch can aggravate the headaches, tension and cluster headaches) but other conditions also need to be ruled out  ( sinus headaches, cervicogenic headaches, etc). A scan will be able to guide your physician on next step of management. Analgesics may not be the appropriate treatment for some headaches , thus a complete work up is necessary.

Keep us posted regarding your physician's advice.

Please see what I wrote to red312 and chox.  I got those pains every 5 to 40 seconds with only occasional reprieve in between.  One chiropractic adjustment and I have been pain free all day.  What do you have to lose?  Go see a chiropractor.
