what is this??

I am soon to 26 and have had migraines since I was 10 or so. I always have a visual aura and then I lose vision in my left eye. I have tried imitrex, zomig and I am currently on topomax. June 2006 I had sudden left sided weakness. my arm and leg. I felt rather confused a little disoriented, but that didn't last long. the weakness has persisted. I have had about six MRI done. Mostly normal I have a small Arnold-Chiari variant. I work full time at the local hospital. I work closely with many doctors, they all can't give ma any definite answers. I had a TEE done, they found a PFO. so they thought maybe I was having TIA's. I am currently on topamax, asprin low-dose, and plavix.  My neurologist diagnosed me with hemipalegic migraines. From the research that I've done that doesn't quite fit. When these "episodes" happend I feel tired, I can't seem to read or concentrate on what people are saying to me,I feel very out of it, my arm and leg are extremely weak, sometimes my leg will be dragging. sometines I will get a headache later but not always. A few days later I feel better. I've have gone part-time at work now. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions? They would grealky appreaciated!!!

By all means get a second opinion.

My personal experience with migraine meds has been a quickened heart beat and fluttering. Enough that it scared me.  I no longer take any migraine meds.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

You mentioned that your left sided weakness has persisted, is this correct?

Have you been properly evaluated regarding the patent foramen ovale?

Are you on any medications like anticoagulants?

If your left sided weakness persisted, then this warrants further evaluation. Your medical history of Arnold Chiari and patent foramen ovale may or may not directly contribute to your symptoms, nevertheless they are significant.

Do keep us posted for your answers.
