Veteran's Administration and Guin Ban

The Federal Government has established a "no buy" list called the NICS list. Whenever you attempt to purchase a firearm the dealer is supposed to call a number and consult this list. Once on the list you can never ever purchase or own a firearm. There was supposedly a procedure to do so, but it was never funded.  The penalty for this is seven years in the federal slammer, as one vet found when he had a single shot shotgun  in his possession after being on the list. The public thinks that this list is helpful in preventing "mentally ill" people from getting guns. Guess what. Ninety nine point three percent of the names on the list were supplied by the Veteran's Administration! Amazing! Thusly, if you call the VA "helpline": and say you might hurt yourself, you get on the list! If you apply for a PTSD evaluation, you get on the list! If you do a google search you will find there is federal legislation being proposed to at the very minimum mandate a hearing before a veteran has his right to own a firearm removed. Recently I assisted a veteran and asked the head of psychiatry if he would be on the list if he complained he had ever thought of suicide, and the VA psychiatrist lied through his teeth. Most people who apply for a PTSD only end up with a "zero percent" disability. They might ask themselves whether this was worth forfeiture of their second amendment rights forever.

The resolution of the John Arnold story: The local sheriff denied the VA the right to enter the man's home. They had sent him a letter stating they would be inspecting his home at a specific time and date "to inspect his home and remove all firearms". After the sheriff intervened the VA withdrew the letter. Arnold had had a stroke eight months previously and had not been examined since. He improved considerably and was quite rational at the time the letter arrived. The VA is writing these letters to veterans without judicial review or any provision to challenge their conclusions.

It's amazing how they feel a veteran should not be allowed to get a firearm when they have proven in WAR THAT THEY ARE THE MOST RESPONSIBLE PERSON IN THE US TO CARRY ONE AND ARE BEYOND CAREFUL! PTSD IS SEEING SOMETHING THAT IS EXTREMELY SHOCKING TO A SOLDIER AND ANYONE GOING THRU A SHOCKING EXPERIENCE. LESS THEN 3% OF THE US POPULATION CAN LIVE WITH THE FACT OF HAVING TO KILL SOMEONE, EVEN IN WAR THIS IS WHY MOST SOLDIERS HAVE PTSD. IMAGINE YOURSELF SEEING N WITNESSING YOUR MILITARY BROTHERS N SISTERS GETTING MURDERED IN FRONT OF UR EYES? HAVING TO MAKE A DECISION TO KILL THE ENEMY WHOS ONLY 17 YO? ITS EITHER THEM OR YOU N YOUR TEAM THAT STAYS ALIVE. YOUR NIGHTMARES LAST FOREVER, I WITNESS EVERY NIGHT MY VETERAN CRYING, ETC FROM HIS BATTLE BUDDIES HE LOST, IT MAKES ME CRY.THEY SEEM TO SEE THE WORST PART OF WHAT HAPPENED AT WAR IN THEIR NIGHTMARES, I.E. A FOOT IN THE AIR, ONE OF THE WORST IS HAVING TO HELP UR BATTLE BUDDY, PICKING THEIR HEAD UP TO HUG THEM N PART OF THEIR BRAINS ARE NO LONGER THERE. HOW CAN ANYONE WITNESS THESE HORRIBLE THINGS N IT NOT AFFECT THEM THE REST OF THEIR LIVES? PTSD, ANXIETY IS REAL PEOPLE, VETS ARE IN NO WAY PRETENDING OR FAKING IT,ASK THEIR FAMILIES THEY KNOW. IF U STILL DOUBT PTSD? PICTURE URSRLF DOING WHAT OUR MILITARY DOES ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS, YOU COULD NEVER DO WHAT THEY DO OTHERWISE YOU WOULD GIVE UR LIFE FOR UR COUNTRY N SIGN THAT DOTTED LINE " I WILL GIVE MY LIFE FOR MY COUNTRY AND MY MILITARY BROTHERS" NEVER JUDGE UNTIL YOUVE BEEN IN SITUATIONS AS OUR SOLDIERS HAVE BEEN IN. GIVE THEM THE UTMOST RESPECT, THEY DESERVE THAT AND ALOT MORE!  THANK YOU!

In Boise Idaho, August 2015 the Veteran's Administration sent a letter to a Navy Veteran named John Arnold in Pries River stating "You are not allowed to possess or purchase firearms", apparently based upon "confidential" evaluations by VA psychiatrists. Mr. Arnold, an NRA member, maintains he is no danger to anyone and is rational and competent.  Veteran's Administration spokesman Bret Bowers confirmed this to be the case. The story may be googled. Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler considers the order unconstitutional and has refused to remove firearms from the veteran's home.
