10 wks pregnant, bleeding and cant see the baby in the sack

Hi iam am 10 weeks and 5 days pregnant according to my last period! I started to bleed lightly on friday evening, and have continued to bleed throughout the weekend, alittle bit heavier, i went to the hospital today for a internal scan and was asked if my dates were right has there is a pregnancie there but they coulden't see the baby in the sack? Please can someone tell me if they have had the same thing as i am left here now for another two weeks worrying if iam having a miscarage or not?

At any point before today, had you seen the baby on ultrasound?  If not, it sounds like you may have a blighted ovum.  At 10 weeks and 5 days (if you are certain of your dates), they would almost certainly be able to see the baby on the screen.  However, if you passed the baby, you would certainly know!  An almost 11 week fetus would be very painful to pass, and you would definitely see large tissue come out of you - it wouldn't just be blood.

With a blighted ovum, it usually takes a while, maybe 11 or 12 weeks, for the body to realize that it isn't actually pregnant, and only then does the bleeding begin.  I had a blighted ovum a year ago.  I went for my 12 week ultrasound and there was an empty sac.  I knew I hadn't passed any baby.  I didn't even start to bleed on my own.  I had to have a d&c.  They could monitor your hcg levels, and that may help in diagnosing.  Also, I would ask for a repeat ultrasound in a week.

I'm very sorry that you are going through this.  I too know the pain that you are feeling.

Good luck to you.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.  I would push for a repeat test earlier than two weeks time, it is not fair on you emotionally to make you wait as long as 2 weeks.  It does sound as if the pregnancy has stopped if the scan is showing a sac with no baby, your dates would have to be way out for it to be a mistake.  I'm really sorry to say all of this and know how hard it is to go through this.  My thoughts are with you.

well it does sound to me that you have had a m/c only because the doctor could not be that off by dates to not see the baby, and if you are bleeding then you may have passed the baby before you made it to the er.im so sorry to hear this i had a m/c in feb and it is not easy to deal with but just pray and you will get another bfp if that is what you want good luck sweetie
