Hi! I also had a blighted ovum miscarriage Sept 28th 2010. We ttc right after and were successful. We are 25 weeks along. My first pregnancy had no complications so I didn't expect it. Even after getting a positive pregnancy test I was worried. Every time I went to the bathroom I would be making sure I wasn't bleeding. Now that we have made it to 25 weeks there are always worries. To put my mind at ease I bought a fetal doppler :) I have the sonoline b i got it on eBay for I think around $60. Any thing else I can help you with let me know! Sorry for your loss!

I had a blighted ovum last year, and we are finally ready to TTC #1 again.  I've heard that the blighted ovum is very common, and usually goes undetected in a lot of women.  Most of the blighted ovums we hear about are because of actively TTC and getting a positive test much earlier than most.  I'm trying to remain optimistic and am currently in my 2ww for the first time since my blighted ovum!!  I fully understand your fear, and hope for both of us that it was just a one time thing, and we both go on the have happy healthy beans!!!

Hi there.  I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately yes, blighted ovum is a fairly common type of miscarriage.  Typically, like the majority of first trimester miscarriages it is caused by chromosonal abnormality.  In other words something just didn't come together right.  The positive news is that having had one does not increase your chances of another.  In fact most women that have a miscarriage of any sort in first trimester do go on to have normal and healthy pregnancies.  I understand your fear...most of us feel that way after a loss, but there is every reason to believe it won't happen a second time.  Your chances of loss do not increase until after you have had 3 of them.

Good luck on ttc again, and again I am sorry for your loss.
