Blighted ovum or new pregnancy

Hi,

After seven months of trying my husband and I had a positive pregnancy test.  I had all of the pregnancy symptoms; heavy sore breasts, exhaustion, irritability, cramps, certain smells bothered me and nausea without vomiting.

We went for our first u/s they calculated that I was 7 weeks and four days, but the u/s only showed an empty sac.  I had blood tests done and my hcg levels went up from 2919 to 3319.  I went in for another u/s a week later and now they can see something very small in the sac!  But the Dr. says it measures to be only 3 to 4 weeks.

I’m waiting for the results of my next blood tests and I see my Dr. in two days.  He says there is a possibility that I got my dates wrong, (which I didn’t) or I could have conceived, then miscarried, and then conceived again before getting my period.  Has anyone ever heard of something like this?!

The waiting is so stressful.  Hope everything goes your way.  Best of luck to you.

Thank you.  Your response has made me feel a lot better.  I know that we're not in the clear yet, but thanks for that response.

You could have ovulated late or implanted late.  I wouldn't worry just yet.  Good luck.
