DNC and light periods

I had a DNC done at 12 weeks after going in to see the fetus had stopped growing at 7 weeks.  Ever since I had the DNC done April 18th 2008 I have had really light periods and January's period was about 24 hours long. This month I have had very light bleeding almost just spotting for two days now nothing.

I have an appointment with my dr on tuesday because I also have had problems having to go to the bathroom all the time I am up at least three times a night I go about every two hours it's worst when I lay down.  I don't know if it has something to do with my uterus or my bladder.   I've been tested for UTI's several times and always comes back negative.

I have heard that after a DNC if the Dr was too rough it can cause scar tissue and close off the uterus so that your periods are light to none existent.   I'm really hoping this isn't what is going on.  I want to start ttc again but with this problem I'm not sure if I should.

Has anyone here heard of this problem or had any experience they can share?

Well I went to the Dr yesterday which is a different Dr then the one who did my D&C.  He seems to think that since I have my period regularly there isn't anything to worry about. He did a pelvic exam and said that my ovaries and my uterus felt normal.  He's sending me to a urologist to have him look at my bladder to see if there is irritation that is causing the frequent urination and bladder cramping.

I use to have a 28 day cycle and now i'm jumping from 28-33 days every month is different and it's been almost a year.  I use to have really heavy periods with lots of clotting and last 5 days at least and heavy cramping to the point where I have to take 400mg of ibuprofen every two hours just to ease the cramps.  now I'm down to 1 day of heavy and then spotting for 3-4 days it's not normal at all for me.

I'm scared to try and conceive again because if there is scar tissue then I will just m/c again.  Not having insurance really S*U*C*K*S. It's hard to see the dr and get tests that you know you should have done.

It seems to coincide with my cycle a few days before I start my period I start having to go really bad all the time and nothing more then a trickle and then bad cramps after I empty my bladder and then once I'm done with my period it seems to go back to semi normal.  I just don't know so now I have to wait till March 10th to see the Urologist.

I'm sorry for your loss. When I had my d and c after having a d and e at 19 wks I bleed and bleed and bleed. Some women have the opposite. It actually helps their flow to be alot lighter. It may also be your body getting back to normal. A 12 wk m/c is considered far along to so the further along you are the worse affect it may have on your body. I was told on all 6 occasions it may take a few cycles maybe longer for my body to heal and my periods to regulate. Every woman and pg is different. I'm alos interested in seeing what your dr said. Best wishes to you and I hope you have a smooth recovery. Take care,

I had a misscarriage at 19 wks on November 16th, D&C on Dec 10th.  Have had 2 VERY light periods since. Doc siad it may be scar tissue and if my 3rd period is not heavier he will do an u/s to see if the lining is thick enough, and maybe a die injection to look for scar tissue.  He said to wait to get pregnant - which *****!

PLEASE post what your doc said - I would love to know.

anyone else have any experiences like this with there periods after having a D&C?

I would expect the first couple cycles to be light as they scrape away all the lining in the D&C procedure but after it's been built back up I would think they would go back to normal.

I don't know I guess I will have to talk to the Dr tomorrow. I was just wanting to get some comments and stuff to talk to dr about possibilities of whats going on.

I'm sorry for your loss and that I can't be of much help because I never had to have a D&C. But I wish you the best on Tuesday and hope that all goes well. Let me know.
