First period after miscarriage

I miscarried last month on October 9th, the day before my first ultrasound. I had to undergo a D&C the next day followed by 4 blood transfusions. Last week on Thursday I got my first period since the incident. It first started off really light and now it's very heavy to the point I am soaking through pads within 30 mins to 1 hour. My period usually lasts for 5 days and the bleeding completely stops on the last day but today marks my 5th day and the bleeding is still going and heavy. Is this something normal or do I have to see a doctor? This is all new to me because this would've been my first child.

I'm hanging in there. I'm trying to stay off my feet as much as I can in able for the bleeding to slow down. I might have to go back to the doctor because I'm still bleeding kind of heavy. But hopefully your case isn't like this and your bleeding stops soon.

I went to the doctor yesterday. He told me it was normal for a period to be heavy after a miscarriage because is basically cleaning out any extra tissues (which are the blood clots) leftover. Therefore everything should be back to normal afterwards but if the bleeding is gets heavier or it continues on for an extended period then it's best to go to the hospital ASAP because it's considered very dangerous.
