Increased HCG levels after miscarraige

Hi. I've never posted on this before so forgive me if its a little long.

This is my second miscarriage, previously I miscarried in February 2015, this was a "normal" miscarriage.

I miscarried again on 21st April 2015. I was 6 weeks pregnant. I knew something wasn't right as I had taken a few clearblue tests with the week indicator and it was only ever 1-2 weeks (past conception). As I was 6 weeks when I lost the baby I assumed my levels would decrease.

I have taken a pregnancy test (clearblue) being almost 5 weeks past the date I lost the pregnancy and received a positive of 2-3 weeks (past conception). Why are my levels increasing?

Has this happended to anyone else? I'm confussed as I know I was not able to fall pregnant that month as my doctor had given me a few tests to take home to make sure my levels were decreasing. When taken 2 weeks after the miscarriage there was still a faint positive.

Hoping someone has been through this and able to help. Thanks in advance.

Thanks all. I'll keep a check on the levels and if it continues to rise or not decrease looks like I'll be back at the docs. Thanks for your thoughts.

It could have been a molar pregnancy. This means some tissue could keep growing if there was any retained. It happened to my sister. It would be unusual though, as normally your original levels would have been a lot higher. Definitely keep a close eye on your levels, and if they continue to rise, maybe get a scan to check it's all clear in there... Hopefully your body is just taking a little longer to settle down and it won't be anything :)

Be sure to check your hcg level once or twice a week until it goes down to non pregnancy level.

Im concerned bc normally if u mc and the levels are increasing then that might be ectopic pregnancy which is very dangerous.

Thank you. We're not ttc anytime soon.
It's just worrying that my levels are increasing 5 weeks after I've miscarried rather than decreasing. They are higher now that I am not pregnant than when I was pregnant.
Glad it hasn't taken you long to conceive again. Hope this pregnancy goes well for you.

It took me 6-8w to drop to below 5. As long as your level is below 5 then it's good. If I were u I would wait for around 6months ttc again. Start eating healthy and take prenatal vitamins with folic acid.  It's better to give your body time to heal.

I had a mc feb 2014 at 6w and I didn't ttc until jan 2015 bc i dont want to have mc again, its painful. it only took me two months to get preg again, i believe the raw chinese herbsl tea helps alot. If u keep getting mc then your body will eventually keep having mc. Is like planting a garden  - is best to have a nice and clean soil then the plants will do it own thing. You will have a healthy baby soon but just need to be patient
