Please help! Pregnant but ultrasound showed only gestational sac...

I am very concerned.  I had sex on the 5th of April, which would put me at right around five weeks pregnant.  That is the only intercourse I have had before finding out I was pregnant at the beginning of May, so I know this is the right date.  I have seen on the Internet that it should actually be seven weeks (if counting from the day of my LMP) but when I went to the doctor and had a blood test, they said I was right at five weeks as well.  I had my first ultrasound yesterday and all the doctor could see was a gestational sac.. maybe two, he said...  He wants me to come back in a week and have another u/s, but said we should already be seeing more than we actually are on the u/s....  all we saw were two TINY black sacs.  He also mentioned a D/C if I come back and we cant see the fetus.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Should I go by my measurements, because if I count from that day in April forward, I would not think we SHOULD see anything but a sac yet?  Please help if you have been through anything like this.. I am so worried... and I don't know if the doctor saw something unfavorable and just doesn't want me to know yet... thank you...

At that early its not uncommon to only be able to see the gestational sac. Stay calm and wait for your next u/s to tell you more info. If the hcg levels are going up that's good news!

Its still early and the equipment in most drs offices isn't that great.  I would wait it out and have another ultrasound.  Good luck
