having trouble "staying" pregnate.

I am a 37 years old.  I was on birth control for several years and became pregnant as soon as I stopped using my birth control.  I miscarried about 2 days after my period was due ( I had already tested positive).  I waited the 3 months my doctor suggested, and again became pregnant quickly.  I had to blood work done every 48 hrs to monitor my hormone levels....which were doubling as they should.  I had an ultrasound at about 6 weeks, and again at 8 weeks.  The one at 8 weeks showed little growth and no heart beat.  The doctor preformed a d&c the next day.  I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions how anything I can do to increase my chances.
thank you

I'm sorry for your loss. I think with your age you should talk to your dr about ttc. I know many women who were on b/c for yrs and it took them a while to become pg. Have you had all the testing done in regards to your ovaries uterus genetic disorders etc. I wouldn't say wait unless your dr advises you. There are things you can take to increase your chances of becoming pg etc like clomid. Best of luck to you and let me know what happens. Take care....

Thank you so much.  I am very new to this sort of thing (message boards) and I'm having a little trouble figuring out some of the abbreviations.  What is "AF"?  I've been for my post op visit and the doctor told me to go ahead a start trying after my period...which is sooooo heavy and painful.  I have an appt. for a yearly pap in Feb. with a doctor I prefer (large practice.)  Guess I can keep praying.  I'll also keep you in my prayers.
thanks

hello
I am sorry for your loses.
I had two early miscarriages and I had the same feeling that I had problems to stay pregnant.
at the moment waiting for my AF to start trying again. I am going to my doctor very soon and i will be asking him the same question. unfortunately many places they dont want to help or investigate until you have had three consecutive miscarriages . i was told its quite commun (though i dont feel the same). anyway i will let you know what my doctor suggest.
the best of luck for you and keep the hope
