please help

hi, my lmp was 07th may 2010. doctor gave my due date as 12th feb 2011. on sunday (27th of june2010) i had some brownish red bloody discharge and some pain. i am on 20mg daily of klexane and had had bleeding when carrying my previos two children but thought it best to go to hospital and get checked out. There they took some blood and sent me home with an appointment for the following morning ( monday 28th june 2010) for an ultrasound scan. When i had the scan all we ciould see was a sac (measuring 5 weeks) and a tiny white dot inside which the sonographer said COULD be baby it may just be that my dates are wrong, which i doubt. tuesday 29th june i had more blood taken and was told my hcg levels had dropped from 12700+ on the sunday to 12300 on the tuesday.  they simply said to go back in two weeks 12th july for another scan! i'd had no more bleeding until yesterday when i again had some spotting, this time bright red, which i thought THIS IS IT, I'M LOSING IT IT'S GOING!  then it stopped. the amount of blood i lost wouldn't even fill a small spoon or teaspoon. i really don't know what's happening. have i lost my baby??  is it alive, COULD it be alive with falling hcg levels?? or is it  a case of just waiting for it to come out???  i'm so confused and scared.

I'm very sorry to hear that! But you know, I read about so many FVL mums who managed to have healthy babies after so many miscarriages,so fingers crossed. I want you to hug your kids and thank God for His precious gift. And please, don't give up hope and keep trying! do me a favor and tell me what doctors tell you about treating FVL during pregnancy! I'm here for you if you want to talk any time!

Take care !

hi everyone, i had my scan on the 12th it showed i had had a delayed missed miscarriage and the cause was my blood disorder, i have now been referred to the recurrent misscarriages clinic so maybe finally something might change. i had a D and C on the 16th as it had then been over two weeks, nearly three and nothing had happened naturally apart from a LOT of very strong period like cramps. i would like to thank everyone for their advice and comments, it REALLY helped through what felt like an everlasting grim expirience. baby dust and good wishes to all. xxx

Thank you for your support! you know Clexane is a blood thinner and it is a must for those who have the Factor V Leiden. I think you can't stop it during pregnancy , even you have to complete for two weeks post delivery to make sure you won't develop any blood clots. have you heard of Lovenox? it's a blood thinner as well? and there are pills called Coumadin , ask your doctor about that , may be if you change the blood thinner type you get better response ! what about your scan today? I hope every thing went fine!
you are in my thoughts, GOOD LUCK !

i have always believed the clexane to be the cause of my bleeding/problems. i have had three pregnancies now which were all FINE intil i started having the clexane. i had a complete placental abruption with my youngest daughter and i KNOW it was caused by taking too much clexane. the hospital were overdosing me for three months before anyone noticed. my daughter, now three, very nearly died and had to be rescusitated when she was born. she was delivered by emergency cesearean section on the 9th march 2007. i didn't take clexane for the first 5 months of my pregnancy with her and it was a textbook pregnancy up until the point the clexanew was introduced. then EVERYTHING started to go wrong.  i was carrying a baby before her too which was also going great UNTIL clexane was introduced then as soon as i started taking it the bleeding started within days and after two weeks the baby died at 10 weeks gestation. i had a d and c and SWORE i'd never have clexane again in any other pregnancy. and when i got pregnant with my daughetr i stuck to my guns for the first 5 months and REALLY enjoyed my problem free pregnancy. then AGAIN i started the clexane and everything started to go wrong. both me and my da\ughter VERY nearly died, almost leaving my other two year old without a mummy.
ithink if you felt the clexane was not for you it;s your right to tell them you don't want to take it. i had an aspirin a day until my 5th month and i was fine!!! good luck with trying again. and DON'T be araid to ask questions, if you think your dose is wrong or you feel you don't need the clexane at all, then you need to get your fears out there, talk to your doctor and don't let them fob you off with scaremongering x

I totally know your suffering! I have factor V leiden as well (hetrozygous), which is the main reason of my miscarriages. I had eight miscarriages so far.I didn't find out about the FVL until the seventh miscarriage! in my eighth pregnancy(IUI) I was on 30 mg Clexane daily, every thing went ok but after ten days of my missed period i had  weird cramps and passed some red spots, called my doc right away and he told me to take an immediate hcg shot (Choriomon) and fortunately had a scan which showed the fetus was ok! but the doc said this was unspecified blood, not uterine bleeding! sigh , all i cared about was the baby.
I kept on spotting reddish brown for two days and it stopped. I had an appointment after a week and the doc said the situation turned critical and the baby slipped to the cervix! I knew then I was miscarrying again and burst into tears. I waited for a week and nothing happened, I was hoping that the baby might change his mind and pregnancy completes!!!!
Everyday passed I was filled with hope as long as no blood came out! I saw my doc and had a scan , while scanning I was shivering when the doc asked me if I had passed any blood or tissue and I answered: nothing at all ! A DISASTER the doc said that there's no fetus at all and the uterus seems as if  wasn't pregnant ! I can't even describe how I felt when I heard this :( How could this be? wasn't I pregnant? but we saw it twice!!! this was driving me crazy as I waited four more days until I felt cramps in my abdomain and back and it passed out! I know this sounds crazy but would you believe that I felt some ease when I saw the fetus! yes there was a pregnancy inside, then I fell in depression, it is very hard to overcome, but here I am trying to conceive again!
What I want to say is that during this pregnancy, it was the first time to be treated by clexane, could it be the cause of all this disorder? my doc said it might have been the cause of the unspecified bleeding I had earlier! But still I don't know what is the cause of the miscarriage this time though I had clexane?

It might be clexane causing you some trouble? but as long as you haven't passed any tissue, I think every thing will be alright! wishing you the best of all!
Baby dust to all of us!

Hi hun, I am sooo sorry you are going through this.  I know how scary it is.  To me it sounds like it could be a miscarriage....but only a dr. could tell you for sure.  It also could be something to do the medications you are already on for the blood clotting issues.  I had my m/c (well the actual d&C itself) at 7 weeks and at that time my blood levels were still normal or falling VERY slowly.

My advice if it's hard to get into your dr. is to go to the ER.  That is what I did....mainly because I couldn't stand the waiting.  They did the same thing to me, after the first US at 5 weeks just told me to come back in two weeks.  I was so scared and knew something was wrong (just had very minimal spotting in the mornings like a few drops a day maybe).  So I went to the ER where they said the baby had no heartbeat.  I was devestated....called my dr. and they got in me in the next day (where they confirmed the m/c).  So if you go to ER you may leave w/ happy news!!!  But regardless of the news you get you will get into your dr. faster.

I hope and pray for you that it's nothing and that the next time you have a US you will see the baby's heartbeat and all will be fine.  Good luck to you and let us know what teh dr. says!!

hi bernie40, would you mind me asking, how far along you were, (according to you lmp) how long it took for your bady to recognise the baby wasn't growing anymore or did you have a d and c?  it would be so helpful and reassuring to know of someone elses expirience and the eventual outcome. thankyou x

hello again and thankyou so much for your kind words, it's now been 8 days since my scan and still no bleeding. my boyfriend is now excited that baby is ok and all is fine, i think differently though.  well, to be honest i just don't know what to think, getting in to see my doctor is virtually impossible, i still have my scan date for 12th july which still seems an eternity away. the night before last, (sunday night) i woke at 2 am with quite bad period like cramps which i took cocodamol for and yesterday the cramps were quite bad ,  i kept myself topped thinking THIS IS IT. it's starting, then NOTHING. it's stopped AGAIN, no bleeding or pain, i am on clexane ( i have factor v leidin mutation, a blood clotting disorder) which can give me quite a sore abdomen so it's just adding to all the twinges and cramps, i just don't know what to think, the only loss i have had is like a yellowish brown discharge.without trying to sound awful  i just want it to be over now, either way, i feel such sympathy for anyone going through the same thing.  xxx

I'm so sorry you're going through this and that you have to wait so long for a second ultrasound.  It could be that the dates are off but if you're 100% sure of your dates then it could well be something called a missed miscarriage - this is where the body doesn't recognise that something has happened to the baby and thinks it is still pregnant.  I found out I had a missed miscarriage when at almost 12 weeks I started losing very small amounts of blood, I went to the Dr who organised a scan for me 3 days later.  The bleeding stopped and then came back but it really was a very small amount.  The scan showed that the baby had in fact stopped growing at 7 weeks.

I don't know much about HCG levels as we don't tend to measure these where I am and it's all done based on lmp and the first scan at 12 weeks.

When I was going through all of this the best advice I was given was to hope for the best but prepare myself for the worst.  I really hope that everything does turn out to be ok for you and if there is any way you can get the 2nd ultrasound brought forward then I would definitely do that.  The longer you have to wait the harder it is for you psychologically.

Good luck and all the best.

thankyou for your responses. i haven't had anymore bleeding since a bit of bright red spotting on thursday, then nothing, i;d had some mild cramps which have also stopped. in my last pregnancy these " pains were put down to ligaments stretching and the fact i've had two sections. i've had nothing, no signs of miscarriage other than  the times i've mentioned.  i haven't been offered anymore blood tests or follow up appointments other than the scan on the 12th of july. i've read all sorts online about blighted ovums, vanishing twins and inevitable miscarriage, which to be honest has left me more confused than before :-S  i will keep you posted as to what's going on, this is my eighth pregnancy, i have two children all the others resulted in miscarriage, but i've never had one like this before. x

Hi sorry that you are going through this...I have had 2 miscarriages one at 7 weeks and one at 6 weeks...They say if you are bleeding more than like a period there is cause for concern....as for the ultrasound your dates could be a little off the baby could have implanted later...Are you still bleeding? Are there any cramps either in your belly or your back?  your HCG levels are still pretty high as long as they dont continue to fall...Ive seen posts where levels do go back and forth...and I was told that the number itself doesnt matter...Have you seen your doctor? Please dont panick (very hard I do know) just try and relax and rest....Try giving your doctor a call and see if you can get in earlier to ease your mind...

You are in my prayers and Im sending baby dust your way

I'm sorry to tell you (i've had two m/c) and everytime my levels dropped i ended up losing my baby. There are some people on here that their levels drop alittle bit like yours and they ended up having a healthy baby. i'm so sorry that you are going through this....
