Mood Swings, Hot Spells, No Sex Drive

I think my hormones are just going crazy. I have a one year old son, just had my gallbladder removed two months ago, and still feel rotten....

In the mornings, I am constantly over warm. I break out in a sweat as soon as I get in the car to go to work. When I'm riding down the road, I am so hot and nauseous that I feel like I could either pass out or vomit.

I am taking Cymbalta and Welbutrin for depression. These have been controlling it farily well for the past several months. I also take Yaz birth control daily. I just had a period a week and a half ago.

I have mood swings, the hot spells, no libido or any kind of drive. The symptoms have grown in intensity in the past couple of weeks. My husband has joked that I am starting menopause....I'm only 26.

I would divide the symptoms into two groups -

Warm and sweaty - Should be evaluated by physician, but.... my top choice of reasons for you would be side effect of the combination of medications that you are taking. Both medications affect the noradrenergic (sympathetic) nervous system and the symptoms you report are not uncommon in folks taking highly noradrenergic medications.

No sex drive - Not that uncommon in mothers of young children. Could be hormonal to some degree (are you breast feeding?) - but likely reflects more prolactin and oxytocin's pro-mothering effects than estrogen and progesterone. Nevertheless, a hormone workup is worth pursuing with a doctor (make sure they check testosterone as well - in women and in men this is pretty highly connected to interest in sex).

My biggest concern, I think, would be whether you have an infection.

I would advise seeing your family doctor.  They should be able to refer you to the most appropriate specialist after that (whether that is a surgeon, psychiatrist, etc).

I'm not sure what the problem is.  It could be from a number of sources.  I would see your doctor and get everything checked out.
