5 day IV infusion

Okay sooo I finished up my 5 day IV Infusion this past Monday (8/21) and I still feel all drugged up :(. In fact I almost feel worse than I did before I went in to start the process UGH! I can say that most of the numbness I had in my feet and legs has gotten better but now my left hand is going numb and I still get that annoying shock down my spinal cord when I look down, lhermittes sign .

When I got done the steroids had my whole body tingling just standing there....so bizarre! 1000MG pumped into me everyday I guess will do that?!

The one & only time I had IV steroids, I felt bad for 2 weeks after and then had 2 amazingly great weeks.

I paid $875 for the 5-day treatment too. In my opinion, it wasn't worth it and I haven't asked for them again.

Ahh I see, okay! Thanks for the response Dennis!

I guess because of the high dosage, it takes a long time to get in, settle and "fix' huh??!! It almost feels like everything got heightened (more sensitive) if that makes sense...I'm hoping to get all my test done quickly so I can get on the actual medication he wants me to and hopefully get feeling better again! Just did my JC Virus test and on Monday (8/26) I have to do my specialty eye exam to look for Macular Edema, JOY!

What bothers me most of all is that damn sensation I get when I look down. Everything I do I seem to have to look down and I'm just so afraid I'm making it worse but like I said in my recent post I see him again soon and I will talk more in detail with him!

When I had my IV Steroids around the beginning of Feb of this year it took a little over a week before I felt better. And then my MS symptoms slowly got better over the next month and a half. I guess that was because the steroids stopped the inflammation and it took a while for my body to heal up afterwards. Of course it didn't get rid of all of my MS symptoms. Too much perminate damage I guess. LOL

Yes I have noticed a little bit of change in my mood, snapping a little easier than normal LOL :/.  I definitely slept a lot better last night than I have lately! I actually believe I slept the whole night through YAY! But again I still feel pretty drugged up but you are right those were the big guns so I'm hoping like you said it will mellow itself out over the rest of this week. "Puffy" lol yea I have been drinking more water and of course the coffee in the morning may not be helping my little steroid high out but I HAVE to have my coffee!

Of course I will talk more to the doc about it when I see him this Sat morning!

Those are the big guns, alright. Those 'after effects' (the bad ones, at least!) should settle down over the next couple of days (sleep and mood issues are pretty common, for example). You'll be better able to judge its impact then, too. (For example, my internuclear opthalmoplegia started to sort itself out by the tail end of the course and I was right as rain by a week later. Your mileage may vary.)

I always made sure and stayed a little more hydrated than usual during and in the first few days following. This isn't based on medical advice, it just made me feel a little less 'puffy' (which may have been in my head anyway!)
