OT Art lovers

Today while taking a break on my couch I noticed something really weird. My laptop was across the room and sitting at a slightly weird angle to me. The screen saver was running and I was getting some very interesting images on it. Several photos the screen saver was showing consisted of people by a lake. The water in the photos looked normal while parts or all of the people would look like they were negatives.

Makes me wish I could paint! When I was in school the highest grade I got in the required art classes was a "D". I only got the "D" because the teacher couldn't bring herself to flunk a young child. :) If my life depended on it I still couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler. :)

I actually have a very strong artistic side to me (got it from my dad). I can visualize what something would look like very easy and had considered becoming an architect when in high school.  But since I can't put my visions onto paper that would have been a bad choice for me. How can you sell a design to someone when you can't show them what it will look like. Luckily I also had a very strong logical side so I instead went into computer design.

Since I developed MS my logical side seems to have quit working most of the time (have a lot of trouble deciding things) but my artistic side has gotten stronger. Since MS I have learned to write song lyrics and compose music on my computer. Still can't play any instruments, but I can compose the stuff. So I guess the connection between hands and mind still doesn't work. :(

ROFL i use to sing to my youngest when he was a wee little baby and he'd put his cute little hand on my mouth whilst I sang and it was lovely but when he started talking, he would put his hand on my mouth and say "don't sing" ahhhhhh not so lovely lol I've lip sinked ever since!

Cheers........JJ

PS there are many song writers who don't or can't sing but they would still be thought of as artistic.

I experience something similar to you with the green lights. I smoke one of those electronic cigarettes and the tip glows red when you inhale. When I am sitting at mu computer I will see two reflections in my monitor of the tip glowing. DV hard at work there too.

As for artistic or not I don't think your logic pans out too good. If that was the case I could consider myself a singer as I can visualize and appreciate what the lyrics to my songs would sound like if done right. But if I do try to sing dog for miles around would start to howl.

And I really mean that. I wrote a song for a woman I knew (music and lyrics) and she begged me to sing it for her.  So that night when I went home I spent hours try to sing it the best I could. The next time I saw her I gave her the tape to listen to. After just a few seconds she turned off the tape and said "Your right you can't sing". :)

PS I can her the songs being sung in my mind, but just can't do it myself.

I'm sure the art teacher was not related as it happened with every art teacher while in school. I had a similar problem when it came to playing instruments back then and now. Just no hand to mind connection going on at all.

In fact now that I think about it that is probably why I also have no mechanical ability either. If you need any work done on a car don't come to me. :)

I can't say the same Dennis, I have arty-farty running through my veins lol if anything my logical side is more pronounced than it use to be but I was thinking its because i dont have the visual or hand control any more, so my artistic side isn't getting the outlet or free rain that it use too.

If we're talking about visual oddities that become visual art, now dont laugh but i've been fascinated since I was a child, with the every changing visual display that happens when you close your eyes in bright sunlight. I thought of it being similar to making clouds shapes into known objects but i noticed after my vision went double, that instead of the changing swirls I use to see, they were sometimes strangely cubic, err odd!

ohh funny, at night when i'm laying in bed, I can see into my onsuite bathroom, there are two little green lights that seem to float about, i've zoned out (day dreaming when i can't sleep) many times looking at those lights. Well the other day, I realised I dont actually have anything in my bathroom to cause 'two' lights lol though I do have one electrical toothbrush on charge and that has a little green light. The light bulb goes off and i realised that my double vision was at play lol

Hmmmmm are you not still artistic, if your able to 'visualise' and appreciate the beauty, even if you can't physically create?

Cheers........JJ :D

Oh Dennis, I had to laugh when you brought up the art teacher.  When my oldest daughter was in Elementary School her teacher flunked her in art and threatened to turn us in because something was "wierd" with the child......sigh.......her mother WAS an elementary school teacher..........I think I'd know!

So I took the drawing of a house to a friend who was a veteran elem teacher of her whole life and asked her for her opinion of the picture.  She asked my daughter to describe the drawing.  She told my friend that this was her house and my friend asked her why the windows were colored black.

sit down for this one

She calmly replied "because its dark and everyone is in bed asleep"

I rest my case.  Needless to say, after a certain elem teacher/mom got thru with her appt with the principal, the child was given a decent grade, apologized to and taken OUT of you know who's class.....

Almost made me as mad as when the teacher in another Elem School cut her hair "because it was in her face" without checking with me first.........I almost cut HER hair............child was growing her hair out for a pony tail..........Yep, I was a "rebel" mom in those days, nothing like an incompetent self assuming teacher to get my dander up.

So, Dennis, my question to you?  Are you sure your art teacher wasn't related to my art teacher?  (grin)
