Has anyone using provigil in 200mg doses had problems with either elevated blood pressure or blood pressure spikes?
Shop around for better prices. Wow, you're paying a lot. I am amused by people talking about what their insurance will or will not cover. Insurance companies are now in the business of practicing medicine - deciding what they will or will not cover. So insurance costs keep going up, and benefits continually decrease. May I suggest that we complain to state agencies, write insurers certified letters, and lay the groundwork for legal action. Insurance companies will then pay for what your doctor prescribes, and you'll have more money. Give that a try. This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.

That's interesting. I'm finding the positive effects great so far if I can just manage the negative ones by dose. It's much better than amantadine which worked for me but I often forgot to take second midday dose. I was told if the BP issues don't settle with smaller dose then neuro can prescribe something else but I think that something else might be Ritalin or something similar. Maybe your neuro doesn't prescribe that. In any case, reading up a bit on this drug, I found several articles discussing neuro protective effects of modafinil which I find intriguing. Here's a blog referencing one such study.

Hi! I wasn't noticing a difference in my fatigue level and I even tried 400 mg once with no difference from the 200 mg but I stuck with it except weekends.
I could take the 200 mg and nap less than 2 hours later so I knew it wasn't working for me.
After about 15 months my fatigue level was something I could cope with (although I don't know what changed).
I stopped almost 2 months ago and I do not notice any difference than being on it.
I called my neuro's office to see if there was anything I could take and it was either Modafinil or Amantadine and another specialist had told me that Modafinil was the one that worked best so I am leaving fatigue alone for now.

Thanks so much for input. After some waiting, some calls, neuro wants me to stick with it since it's helping fatigue and try a lower dose so I am doing that now and it's better so far and still effective without the sudden heart poundings! So we'll see how it goes. Do you mind me asking why you stopped it after a year? Did you no longer need it or did you try something else? Ison't know how you would know you no longer need it unless you come off it. In any case, I really appreciate your reply.

Hi Joie, I took Modafinil for over a year. 200 mg a day but as far as I know I did not have any bp issues but no none checked so I can't say for certain that I didn't.

Nuvigil, alerted, modafinil, Provigil are the same -as far as I understand. I am paying more than you - I have high deductible insurance but took the hit because I needed a replacement for amantadine to help with fatigue. Thought I was ok until the amantadine worked its way out of my system and then I crashed. But new drug is giving me BP problems. Is anyone taking the drug with NO BP problems? How much can you take? I don't want to be left high and dry again with chronic fatigue and nothing to help.

So my dr put me on Modofinil 200mg 2 every morning I'm paying 299.99 for 30 pills because my insurance is saying its for people with sleep disorders or shift workers. Please if anyone can tell me anything I'm open to anything right now
