Can't stop eating

I don't know why at all but for the last two days I can't seem to stop eating. I have not changed any medications recently or done anything else that I can figure could be causing this.

Yesterday:
2 bowls of raisin bran with milk, 2 apples, 2 slices of peanut butter toast, 2 hot dogs, 1 large bowl of BBQ Beef stew, 1/4 box of saltine crackers, 1 carton of cottage cheese with 1/2 can of peaches. 2 bologna sandwiches, 1 large salad and I was still hungry when I went to bed last night.

So far today:
2 bowls of oatmeal, 1/2 can of peaches, 2 hot dogs with 1 can of chili, 1 bowl of raisin bran. 2 bologna sandwiches, 1 large salad, and still hungry. Thinking about having another couple of hot dogs with baked beans right now to hold me over until dinner time.

And it is only 3PM.  At this rate I'll weigh 500 pounds by the end of the week.

I have that problem sometimes but mine has nothing to do with MS it is more of a woman thing lol

I agree with eating higher protien but also eat higher fiber, the combination of the two will last longer and make you not feel as hungry.

Not sure if this is related to MS or not though. I am not as well versed on this disease as most here are. I am just going through the motions myself and playing the cards that are delt.

Good luck and I hope someone can give you a better idea of what is going on.

I do think it may be MS related. For several years I was never feeling hungry. no grumbling stomach, no hunger pain, nothing. In fact some times I would go 48 hours without eating because I didn't remember to eat.

So now I seem to be going through just the opposite with constant hunger. When I eat now I am not feeling the hunger going away at all and will have my stomach is continuing to grumble even after eating a large meal.

Yesterday I did have another two hog dogs with baked beens, 2 large salads, 2 large bowls of stew ([mostly] beef, carrots, potatoes, celery), 1 banana split, 1 banana, 1 bowl of oatmeal. I am also drinking about 2 liters of water.

I can understand your worry about weighing 500 lb by the end of the week with your current appetite.

As you say you haven't changed meds lately, the other thing that springs to mind is maybe a new lesion somewhere?  I've read that lesions in particular places can cause euphoria and depression for no reason so have to wonder whether they can do the same thing to our appetite???

I'm by no means a diet expert but I don't think what you're eating would be sending your blood sugars hugely out of wack, creating the roller coaster of highs and lows that then make you eat more, so there must be something behind it.

The only way to (hopefully) curb a rampant appetite is to consume protein as it provides more satiety than any other food.  If you really have to eat and can stomach them, try eating lean steak, eggs, low fat yoghurt and cottage cheese, combined with at least 1.5 litres of water per day and you should hopefully stay full for a decent amount of time.  As long as you eat nothing else, you can eat any quantities of these foods - Dukan diet.

I've put on 20 lb since the beginning of last year with the roller coaster ride of this damned MS thing and it isn't pretty!!  Today is day one of doing the Dukan diet again so wish me luck!
