Could I have ms?

Hi I am a 33 year old female with long history of spinal problems, gynae problems and urological problems. I have been exhausted for months with constant back pain for which I've had two major ops and chronic cystitis which cannot be treated. I have recently developed blurred vision, nausea, tingling in my lips, face and hands and spasms in my limbs. I have brain fog that will not go away following a severe migraine attack and I feel dreadful all the time.I keep losing grip in my hands and dropping things- mainly plates!  I am a mum to an 8 year old and luckily have a brilliant husband who has taken on all responsibility! My doctor says I have a headache that will ' go away eventually'. He just doesn't seem to get my concern and I don't know where to turn. Please does anyone have any advice. I have had a disc replacement and spinal fusion, am taking HRT and tramadol for back pain and doc gas prescribed brufen which hasn't helped. Many thanks.

Hi!

Believe it or not, i have had ALL of the symptoms you are experiencing.  i have received varying diagnoses, and as a surprise to me, I did have different things going on at the time that responded to treatment.

having said that, l am concerned about your dropping items and the numbness, etc.  l went to the dr. for those types of symptoms and learned l had spinal myelopathy so bad that if l took another fall (which i do often), l could end up quadriplegic.  so, l had surgery to remove the impingement on the spinal cord.

l don't know what meds you take, but it is a given that opioids and the like cause terrible bowel dysfunction.  after many years of bowel pain and problems, i found a wonderful GI who explained it all to me.  She said the muscles that make your colon work just don't anymore.  ln my case, l have to take Mirolax every single day just to be  normal (which for me means results every 2-3 days).

Hope some or anything here may help!

PEACE,
jana

Hi
I'm glad you found this place, it is great and hopefully you'll find some support and ideas as to where to turn to next.

Are you able to see a different doctor in the same practise - do you keep a diary (the trackers on here are a good way to keep a note of your symptoms, the meds you take and keep a journal of what you are feeling?  See if you are able to get a second opinion and give them a list of your symptoms, it sounds like you should be referred to a specialist but as they've mentioned above it's difficult to suggest which one.

If you are in the UK I know that they've just changed the rules meaning you can sign on to any doctor so that maybe an option too.  Simiarliy the MS Society have a helpline that you may want to try and see if they have any suggestions if you feel that it maybe MS.

Good luck, keep going, you know your body better than anyone else and if you feel you aren't getting the answers or support you need, as difficult and tiring as it is, you need to keep pursuing it.

Glad you have a supportive husband x

Hugs

Hi Traceyanne,  Welcome to our community here.  This is a great place to come and ask questions.  Can you tell us why you are looking for answers here in the MS community?  Has someone suggested that what you are experiencing may be connected to MS?

I am going on the assumption that you are in the UK or AU since you are a mum!  It is great to know that your husband has picked up more than his share to help you get through these tough times.

As Alex said - you have a number of different type symptoms going on.  Please don't let a doctor dismiss you with this lame headache dx.  You know your body - don't allow anyone to dismiss you because they are too lazy to sleuth out answers.

Can you go to a different doctor or are you stuck with this one?

Please stay in touch and let us know how else we can be of help.

be well,
Lulu

All I can say is if you feel something is wrong you have to keep at your Doctor. You have so many things going on I would not know what specialist to suggest.
