I'm home from Arizona

Well, I am back from Arizona now.  I loved meeting my new grandbaby!   He was such a joy and just beautiful.   My son is such a proud daddy and that makes my heart smile.   We spent quite a bit of time looking at houses.  We hooked up with a realtor who we are quite comfortable with.  He will help us get into the right house.  He understands my needs (wheelchair and other mobility aids plus bathroom safety items).  We also got to see our extended family and had a wonderful time.   Long story, but I have a foster mom, too.  I didn't tell her I was coming and just popped in on her.  lol   I love doing that to her because her reaction is priceless.  :)

The trip wiped me out.  I am so very glad I went even though I felt myself fading towards the end.  I went straight to bed when I got home Sunday evening.   I had been getting muscle spasms like the hug off and on during our trip.  I found my pain increasing.  Issues swallowing, too.   Nausea, headache, and tremors started Sunday, on the drive home.  The spasms just got worse and worse until I ended up in the ER on Tuesday, per my neurologist.   By that time, I was in a tremendous amount of pain due to spasms around my chest, up and down my esophagus and in my pelvic floor.

This is the third time I have been to ER for severe spasms.  Each time I have been given morphine.   I started seeing a pain specialist a couple months ago and all that has managed to do is make me hurt more.   All he has done is take me off the Tramadol and put me on Tylenol 3...when I already have Vicodin.  Tuesday I told my mom she might want to keep my drugs in her room.  I have NEVER been suicidal but when I have severe and debilitating pain for extended periods, I find myself getting tired of the pain and question whether it is all worth it.   After the pain gets under control, I no longer feel desperate.   I honestly don't know how much more I can handle though and I don't think ER visits are the answer.

Any suggestions?

Anyway, I am glad to be home.  Now we can get packed up and prepare for our move back home.  :)  I missed you all!

Hugs,
Addi

JSSL-

I do have trouble with the heat.  But I know there are ways around it in AZ.  I weighed the pros and cons with moving there and having family close by tips the odds considerably towards moving there.  :)

LOL Addi, I know a good tatoo artist as well and I am sure he would do it pro bono :)

I hope Karen's suggestion will work for you next time...I can only imagine the type of thoughts that would cross my mind if I had to deal with terrible, break through chronic pain on a daily basis with no break and no meds to damper it.

AZ is a great place (are you heat intolerant??)...especially when there ia a grand baby waiting there fo you!

Debs - thank ya, thank ya.  :)   Yes, I did get pictures!   I use am iPad for internet and haven't figured out how to add pictures on here yet.  But, I did get on the regular computer last night and posted one picture of my lil baby Wyatt.  :)   It is in my album labeled FAMILY.

Karen, I have never taken Valium before.  No one has ever mentioned it to me either.  I take Baclofen and another muscle relaxer that starts with an O.  Usually these keep them under control.  But sometimes the pain breaks through.  That is when the ER comes into play.  I wonder if I can try Valium for these breakthroughs?   I will have to ask my pcp.  Thank you for the suggestion and I am glad that it works for you.  :)

Okay I am off to make my phone calls about reporting the neuro-jerk that saw my daughter.   Wish me luck in placing a warning flag on his forehead.  Hmmm.  I know a tattoo artist....

Hugs to all,
Addi

Have you ever tried Valium for your muscle spasms?  It is the only thing that has worked for me.

Last year, I was struck from behind while driving and that sent me into a muscle spasm from hill.  Valium was the only thing that helped.  My back spasms caused 1/4 of my back to spasm which took me to the floor for hours in agony.  Vicodin, Tylenol #3, Ibuprofen, muscle relaxants did NOTHING for me.

Finally, an ER doc gave me a shot of Valium and it melted the spasm away.  They gave me a script to go.   These were not MS caused spasms.  I would guess even though the cause is different it could still help.

I never knew valium was used for spasms, but they are.

Welcome Back Addi :)))

I'm so pleased that you had a great time - but not for your pain and spasms and ending up in the ER.

Good idea though to give your meds to your Mother.

Did you manage to take any 'photos??

Missed you on here,

Gentle Hugs,

Debs x

We missed you too girlfriend.  So glad that you are home safely.  But, so sorry for all the troubles you had when you were gone.  (HUGS) .... When they try substituting Tylenol 3 for things like morphine and vicodin, it is so silly.   But, they don't seem to want to be listeners, do they.

Glad tht you are back now, and we can chat again,

love and hugs,
Candy
