Does this sound like Myoclonus

Hey all- I am responding to something posted by "crystaly" quite a while ago where she was wondering if anyone else had this affliction.
My symptoms: My body will sometimes feel as if it is charged with electricity and that is when I know I am more suseptable (sp?) to jerky movements.

It happens most often when I move: instead of a nice smooth movement my arm or leg will kick out. I have kicked my wife more than a few times when she is placing my feet in the foot brace of my wheelchair.

I have also spilled more than my share of drinks; so when I am having a bad day my wife gives me what we jokingly call my "sippy cup".

Besides the balance issue, this is the reason I mostly use an electric wheelchair to get around.

I take clonazapam .5mg 4x daily. However, I never remember the dr.calling it Myoclonus.

It happens more when I hurry; am excited; or stressed.

Hi Mike,

I don't know much about this condition so I googled it.  Yes, your symptoms do sound like myoclonus, but I can't tell you this for sure.

Check out this site I found from the mayo clinic.  http:// www.mayoclinic.com /health/ myoclonus/DS00754 (take out the spaces I added)

This site seemed very good about explaining this condition and the causes and drugs used for it.  Clonazapam was one of the drugs recommended.

Hope you are having a good day!

Hey Mike,

I'm not knowledgeable about this stuff so I'm going to bump this up so that it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. With the holidays, answers can be slow. I'm sure someone will be along in a bit who can answer this for you.
