Should i be concerned?

hi, i'm 27 years old and female. About one month ago i started to have pain in my eyes and headaches. The eye doctor said that there was nothing wrong with my eyes and i said see a neurologist. Then i started searching and came across MS. I had symptoms like eye pain and frequent urinating and started thinking about it. From that day after i feel tingling, numbness and depression. sometimes i feel like my movement is slower. Another symptom o have is that my right eyelid is heavier and my vision is different from my other eye, i have less vision since i feel that my eyelid is covering my vision. I am so worried that i feel like crying all the time.

The eye doctor could suggested a neurologist if you told him you had headaches and he found no cause with your eyes. Neurologists treat headaches. So may be it is that and not MS he was thinking of.

Hi and welcome,

What stands out to me in your post, is that even though you've had the health of your eyes and vision tested, which didn't find any of the typical visual issues connected with MS, the day after googling and coming across MS, you only then started experiencing additional symptoms.....

Take a step back and think about this logically for a moment.......this evolved only after being told to see a neurologist and then reading about MS, right?

Your eye doctor probably only mentioned seeing a neurologist because eye pain and headaches, when not caused by any visual abnormalities, 'could be' caused by a neurological condition eg migraine but realistically, eye pain and headaches are very common issues and can actually be caused by many other non neurological medical conditions eg sinus infection, allergies, mental health, menstrual etc etc.

Hopefully you will gain some level of reassurance in knowing that when there is a rapid symptom development after reading about a medical condition, which continues to add more and more symptoms in a very short time frame (over a month) as you have described.

This would be inconsistent with MS 'basically' because of how the symptoms in MS develop over time and the way the brain and or spinal lesion's cause different symptoms, MS honestly would not be capable of presenting like you are describing.......breath!

It is highly unlikely to be a neurological conditions like MS that you are dealing with because it's not consistent with MS in general, but this type of rapid and wide spread symptom pattern, is actually quite consistent with some mental health conditions eg anxiety/depression, health anxiety, conversion disorder etc. and as you are acknowledging dealing with depression and are anxious about MS, it is one possible medical condition that you could be dealing with.

I would strongly suggest you seriously consider speaking to your family doctor about how you are feeling at this moment in time, and if you believe it might be necessary, you can arrange with your GP to get your mental health assessed, seeking out some help with your emotional well being is always going to be in your best interest so well worth doing imho.

Hugs..........JJ

Hi SR - Welcome to the group.

Was the eye doc you saw an opthamologist or an optomitrist? And was part of that visit an examination of your optic nerve? If not I would suggest that you find a neurologist. As immisceo suggested, the internet can be your enemy before having a diagnosis. When it comes to MS, it appears on lists of possible causes for many many symptoms. I would tread lightly...

We're just patients here, not doctors. But I would encourage you to see a neurologist for further testing. Until then, you won't know what you're dealing with. If use of the internet is making you feel sad or stressed, it might be a good idea to give yourself a break for a while.
