God is good

Reading Alex & Michelle's posts about feeling good reminded me to give thanks for all I've been given.  Whatever I have been dealing with since July 2008 seems to have pretty much gone away.  In addition, despite other terrible hurts during this time period, God has given me much for which to give thanks.

We had a wonderful night at the church last night.  We had 92 antique & classic cars, trucks, & hot rods, and something like two dozen motorcycles.   I served as grill master, and we sold out of brats & burgers.  Had a few more hot dogs we could've sold, but the mustard & ketchup ran out & it was nearly 9:00 pm, so we shut off the grill.  "Pastor's Choice" trophy went to a  deep green 1929 Ford 4-door, but I had another half dozen on my "this might be the one" list.  One of the first arrivals was a blood red 1971 AMC Javelin SST in what looked to me like perfect condition, though it had newer wheels, tires, & stereo.  A vivd green Road Runner from the early 70s showed up, too, utterly spotless, with most of the trunk consumed by modern audio stuff.  The winning Ford had flowers, vines, and hummingbirds etched into the glass in the corners of each of the windows, and synchronized neon strobes on the running boards, bumpers, roof rails, & assorted other strategic spots.

Got home after 10, half-eaten by mosquitoes, somewhat red from both sun and grill, and just able to drag myself up to bed, but once I slathered myself with diphenhydramine cream and drank a quart of ice water, I slept like a baby.

Thank you Pastor Dan. Sometimes it is hard to remember to give thanks when life isn't perfect. But isn't this the time that it is truly important to give thanks for what God is giving is and how He is seeing us through?

I give thanks that I can still walk, I give thanks that I have most of the feeling in most of my body parts. I give thanks that although I had Optic Neuritis, I do not have any residual visual symptoms. I give thanks that I haven't had a Trigeminal Neuralgia attack since the first one. I give thanks that He died for my sins and later rose again.

Praise Report:

About a week ago I woke up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain in my right hip. It happened to be the side I was laying on, so I switched sides. Soon after, the other hip began to hurt so I lay on my back. Soon after I began developing charlie horses in my leg muscles (all of them!). I took an Aleve followed by a Percocet - 30 minutes later, still no relief. If anything, the pain had gotten worse. I also vaporized some Marijuana. Again, no relief. About 30 minutes later, my wife lay hands on me and prayed for healing. I was INSTANTLY cured of my pain.

Remind me to try Prayer first next time :)

Go, PD!  Sounds like a great day, and I love classic cars, too!  I, too, give thanks and I'm so grateful for all I can do, see, hear, and touch.

Cheers,

I thank God each day I wake up & my feet hit the ground.  I really mean that !!

I try not to complain, because I have two son's serving our nation.  So my worse day is better than there's  and conditions they find themselves in.

Sounds like I would have had fun at your social. I love old cars myself. I wash car and driver tv. I end every day with a prayer of gratitude for that day.

God is good!  Even when our dreams have been crushed---He is good.   Though we are rejected by our families and are surrounded by shame---still, He is good.  When we know the true nature of our hearts, He is good.  We may live in pain and are left alone and still He is good.

When it seems that hope is gone, He reminds us of His love and the fact that He alone can set us free.  In the end, this is what truly matters, is our relationship to Him and to His son Jesus who paid the price for us!

It’s good to be reminded that He loves us.

Thank you Pastor Dan
