Reading Alex & Michelle's posts about feeling good reminded me to give thanks for all I've been given. Whatever I have been dealing with since July 2008 seems to have pretty much gone away. In addition, despite other terrible hurts during this time period, God has given me much for which to give thanks.
We had a wonderful night at the church last night. We had 92 antique & classic cars, trucks, & hot rods, and something like two dozen motorcycles. I served as grill master, and we sold out of brats & burgers. Had a few more hot dogs we could've sold, but the mustard & ketchup ran out & it was nearly 9:00 pm, so we shut off the grill. "Pastor's Choice" trophy went to a deep green 1929 Ford 4-door, but I had another half dozen on my "this might be the one" list. One of the first arrivals was a blood red 1971 AMC Javelin SST in what looked to me like perfect condition, though it had newer wheels, tires, & stereo. A vivd green Road Runner from the early 70s showed up, too, utterly spotless, with most of the trunk consumed by modern audio stuff. The winning Ford had flowers, vines, and hummingbirds etched into the glass in the corners of each of the windows, and synchronized neon strobes on the running boards, bumpers, roof rails, & assorted other strategic spots.
Got home after 10, half-eaten by mosquitoes, somewhat red from both sun and grill, and just able to drag myself up to bed, but once I slathered myself with diphenhydramine cream and drank a quart of ice water, I slept like a baby.
