Going on and on

Hi and thanks for reading:
Over three years ago now my husband took suddenly I'll with flu like symptoms which left him with weak muscles severe constant head pain ( still) extreme fatigue and a series of other issues. It took months of running to gp and hospital to get answers - this was initially that he had signs of having a Tia then it was two tia's then we were contacted to go in to hosp for further tests as scan had shown vasculitis in brain - then this was ruled out . Back to TIA . Over the past three years the following are increasing in severity and frequency:

Bladder problems
Extreme fatigue
Mood swings/ depression
Sexual problems - both erectile dysfunction and loss of libido
Pain - constant in head. Also in leg, arm shoulder
Pins and needles feelings in different parts
Memory problems

Some of these are ongoing all the time and others will come like a bolt of blue again or get a lot worse. These periods are increasing in frequency. Today he has took to bed again with extreme fatigue - I mean beyond capability to hold a conversation!!!! This will last a few days or week or so and gradually he improves. With this he gets double vision that cones and goes.
We have attended several scans over past few years he is on loads of medication-
Aspirin
Solpodol
Effexor
Gabapentin
Lipitor
Lamotrigine
Tamsulosin
Vesicare

All for different things like his mood, sex drive, pain, he sees a urology doctor also
I am concerned that if this was a stroke or TIA and this was post stroke symptoms - wouldn't it remain the same???
Yet this is getting worse all the time and each of these "set backs" gets worse and longer.
This has changed the quality of his life and our family life - I try hard to understand some quite extreme mood changes and behaviours - I try hard to help him find out what is going on. Neither of us like all this medication with no definitive cause or reason for it. He had recently tries himself to reduce the use of pain killers as we are concerned about kidney damage - this is ok for a while and then BOOM.  He has also recently injured his foot coming down a flight of steps which is under ct  investigation at present at hospital as looks like it could be a fractured
talus/calcaneus bone .
Please can anyone shed any light on any of this. We seem to go roun abd round and round at gp and hosp and feel like any visit just adds to list of medication with no offer of reason or source of problem. Could this be MS?? And if so how do I get someone to listen to me????

All of his symptoms sounds a lot like many of us here.  Dagun is right, find a neuro or better yet, don't mess around, just find an MS specialist.   Like Dagun says, it takes a lot of time just to diagnose and we don't want to waste any time.

Stay here, you will get lots of advice and find out what a lot of us go thru, and noone is just alike.  But you will get all the support you need..these are good people on this forum.

Sorry, I run out of words and I have to stop, at least I am not in mid sentence..LOL

hugs, meg

Hi, I am sorry for you both going through this. I am not diagnozed, but I have been feeling some of these symptoms. So have many other peoble in this community, diagnozed or not. Many of us are seeing an MS specialists but it takes time to rule out other things. So you probably should start by seeing a Neuro, to let him sort this out. Peoble here are really helpful, and you should stay around for more info.
My best,
Dagun
