No MRI

All,

Well I guess my insurance company will not approve my brain MRI. I don't know what to do, I feel like I need to have it done to figure out what is going on.

I have the lesion in my cervical spine and I want to know where it came from.  My anxiety is now off the charts, I cannot live everyday wondering what is wrong with me, I just want to enjoy my life, my kids, my husband and I feel I can't till I know what is happening.

Everyone is so nice here.  Thank you.

Jen

Erin,

You are right, I should not read the stuff but I cant help it, it has taken over me :(
I did go today for my MRI I have my disc and looked at it but cant make anything of it, so I guess the doctor will have the report tomorrow and let me know, I will fill you in.

Thanks, :)

Woo Hoo! I'm so glad that you were approved and are having the MRI today! Let us know when you get the results - and remember these can take time so be patient and don't get stressed.

I do take Xanax every day. Even with my great therapist, family and friends I need something. Most pain meds give me terrible side effects so I take the Xanax both for anxiety and to take enough edge off the pain to avoid vicodin and other pain meds that don't agree with me.

One more thing - way easier said than done - STOP READING other than posts here! I know exactly what you are going through. I used to spend hours on the web, read medical books etc with my clinical info and try and dx myself as well as find out what is happening to my body.

Don't get me wrong, you should be informed and involved with your health and treatment but tiny bits of info researched on the web etc can put horrible thoughts in your mind that you will dwell on and they probably will never be an issue for you - so you have wasted precious time and energy both reading and stressing.

Hugs,
Erin :)

Erin,

Thank you, I actually found out that they made a mistake it did get approved!  I am going in the morning.

Erin I am seeing a therapist she is really helpful, I just cant get past the fact that I will feel a tingly or a pain and then think I am going to go paralyzed, everything I read about the C2 area where the lesion is can stop my breathing, I wish I never read anything about it.  Have you ever taken anxiety meds to get through a tough time?  I think I need to take something, I just need to know what is going on with me.

Thank you for listening.

Jen,

Sorry that the insurance company has added to your stress and frustration!

You can call them yourself and ask for a reason for the denail and then like Paula said if it is because of the way the order was written call your doctor back and explain to them and have them re-write the order.

It sounds to me that anxiety is your highest priority right now because it is constant so maybe try and get in with a therapist. I have a great one that has really helped me through some very difficult times.

Good Luck
Erin :)

Jen,

My insurance company wouldn't approve my MRI's that my PCP ordered either. My neuro ordered them and said that with the insurance companies you have to state rule out ms, or whatever they are trying to rule out. He said that the wording has to be right  in order to get them approved.

I know it is hard living daily not knowing what is wrong, but it takes time to rule out all the possibilities that it can be. Do talk to the ordering physician and ask them to re word the reason for the MRI's to see if it will help.

Good luck, and do enjoy life to the fullest.
