Heart palpitations and blurred, double vision???

Hello everyone,

I hope things are going okay for everybody.

I had a question, if anybody ever has developed heart problems like palpitations, flops etc. with their MS after a period of time.  I had an episode last week along with some dizziness and blurred vision where I thought I could be having a heart attack, but then realized I may be having just an autonomic response with my heart....

Wondered if anybody has had this happen before....

thanks,

terri

Thanks, so much for your information.  I appreciate it greatly.   I go to see my PMD at 1:00 p.m. today.  I, too, think the autonomic dysfunction may be playing a part here and I am a little concerned because it has been dragging on and on the past week.  I should have went, but I was trying to not get a high ER bill, which is a poor reason not to go to the ER.  My dad died at 48 of a massive heart attack and that is always in the back of my mind.  I am now 54....

Thank you and I will post if I find something out...

Thanks for your words of wisdom and all in the MS forum...

Thank you, Dennis, for your help.  I am going to my PMD this afternoon and who knows from there...  I had trouble sleeping last night due to a different than normal heartburn sensation....  Will see what he says today...

Thanks,

Hi Terri,

Your not diagnosed with MS yet so the heart palpitations, blurred vision, lightheaded or dizziness could be another sign of the autonomic dysfunctions you've been experiencing but i don't think you should make an assumption that there's not more going on with your heart, so please get this medically checked out!

We have had dx MSers who've had heart attacks years prior to being dx with MS, others with various heart issues after dx, sometimes it's related to MS and sometimes it's not but we've all learnt that it's definitely not always caused by MS...your autonomic dysfunctions could be are starting to add up and point towards a more likely medical causation, so please bring this to the attention of your doctor(s)...

Hope that helps........JJ

Twice I have gone to the ER due to my typical symptoms of a heart attack.

The first time the doctors concluded it was my MS messing with me that caused the symptoms.

This last time they could not determine if it was my MS or some other cause for the symptoms. But this last time the main difference was that my BP was also extremely high at the time, while the previous time my BP remained at the normal level.

But I should also mention that between these two episodes I did have an actual heart attack, though very mild one. In any case if you are having heart attack symptoms you should go to the ER just to be on the safe side as you can never know if it is really a heart attack or MS causing the symptoms.

Not everything is MS. I would keep a close watch on the heart. Many people have different symptoms with the heart. I was having diaphragm spasms. The first time I had one I had a complete heart work up. In the end the diaphragm spasms were not my heart or MS either. I had cancer and it was missed for years because my doctors made the mistake of thinking it was MS. I always run new symptoms by my GP first. Eyes and heart are the two things I always run by the doctor with myself and my dogs since both can be nothing or they can be serious. In my case both are in good shape.
