Hello near and far!!

Hello to all of you!  It's been a shamefully long while since I've been by and I hope life is treating you all well.  I've survived the summer and have noticed a kind of pattern that I wanted to ask some advice about.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this so I'll just be out with it.  Heat is an enemy of a lot of us, right?  But, when I'm in the heat or after a shower or whenever I've experienced one of my triggers, I say things that I later realize should have been filtered and would have been, normally.  (I have acquired a bit of patience for my mother in law who has zero filters and I wonder now if it's somewhat out of her power.)  After I cool down or the flareup or whatever it was has passed, I feel that I must think more clearly because I can only shake my head at a few of the things I've said and wondered what happened to allow them out of my mouth.

To quote a phrase that I've seen going around... "Is this an MS moment or am I just an idiot?" I don't think I used to be this way and it seems to come right along with some other MS symptoms, but I'm not sure how to approach this.  If it's MS related, is there anything I can do to keep a clearer head even when I'm overheated or relapsing or whatever?  I'm becoming less and less social out of fear of putting my foot in my mouth. :/

Haha... nice!

This reminds me of a recent visit to a nearby tourist village about 20 minutes from our house.  After a nice afternoon walk around the village we hopped in the car for our short drive home at which time I threw my hands up and exclaimed "Goodbye, Italy!!" My husband gave me an odd little look and said, "huh?" Hahaha!  These are the moments when I feel I'm really losing my mind. Thanking God our summer is over!! lol

Silence definitely seems to be the best option at the moment! haha

agggh just for kicks and giggles, i'll give you one of today's idiot moments. DH was getting a little too playful and i pipped up with....."don't get any ideas, remember i'm pregnant!.....um no, wrong word, i'm ?? it starts with a 'P' what am I? " DH is happily spitting out "senile, mental, over the hill, lacking a bun in the oven" when the penny dropped on what id actually said and that set off laughing and snorting like a little pig so even more laughing. lol

cheers........JJ

note to self.......silence keeps you out of trouble! ROFL

LOL! I'm sure I'm not antisocial enough either, Sarah.  But I'm heading that way.  Good to "see" you again. :)

JJ, my Irish roommate in college always called her friends "idiots" endearingly as well.  Always cracked me up.  I have a bit of an issue spitting things out too sometimes.  Somehow I still manage to screw it up though.  Luckily the heat is subsiding as I'm really much more normal when I'm not overly hot or worn out.

Sanity is so over rated! :o)

I do say the daftest things at the best of times, but unfortunately one of my issues is actually speaking so i tend to say less because i can't get it out of my mouth but ooooooh if people could only read my mind sometimes. lol

Cheers.........JJ

ps in OZ the phrase 'you idiot' is often used as a light hearted term of endearment.........um yes we do speak English but not everyone else's English lol

LOL... I've been leaning toward the "I'm an idiot" thing as well, but I do wonder.  I didn't used to be like this though, so it makes me wonder.  :)  Heat has always been a troublemaker for me even 20 years before MS came up.  It's crazy what it can do to us.

As for getting snappy, the absolute worst for me is standing in line for the bathroom and having someone come in and cut the line.  Look out!! :)  Enjoying your new cooker? (It was you who got a new stove this year, right?)

I'm going with 'You're an idiot'. Just kidding :-)

Welcome back. I don't experience the kind of heat sensitivity you describe. For me, I'm much more likely to snap at someone if I feel stressed. If I'm trying to catch a train, or if I need to go to the bathroom, and you are deemed to be impeding me, I anger quickly. The same anger can be turned inward. If I'm trying to do something, like trying to get my keys in the door while holding 8 things...
