How is everyone doing?

Some of Us, are experiencing the climate change, from Summer to Winter, as Fall has begun (in the USA).  Meaning temperature swings, etc. I know many think that Spring/Summer, with high temperatures, etc. is the worst time, for people w/ MS, but I disagree.  Severe Temperatures, very hot or quite chilly/cold, both have their symptom troubles.  As for myself, very warm/hot temperatures and very chilly/cold temperatures, bring on symptom battles.

[I know, I have been away, from this community, for quite awhile.  I have been spending most of my time writing Christian Poetry, working on my Christian based website, and trying to post, what I write, online, any opportunity, I get.  I'm Medically Retired (and have been since 2009), so I have lots of "free time" on my hands.  So, I try to keep my mind busy.  I pray all is well, with each one of you.]

COMMUNITY LEADER
Hey it's really nice to see you! :D

I was born in England but emigrated to Australia as a child, so I live on the other side of the world from most of the community and we are heading into summer over here. My home state is Melbourne and its the state we joke, experiences all the seasons in just one day.

The cold has always caused my immune system to over react but somewhere along this journey, my bodies ability to react normally to either hot or cold temperatures went on the fritz. Weirdly once i'm feeling cold now, i don't even create a warm pocket in bed any more, even directly under my body is still stone cold hours after being huddled under the doona's, warming up isn't that easy for me but neither is cooling down....

I still have my usual cold responses but since the tremor started, I can really only think of how the tremor is effected by cold temps, nothing else seems to worsen unlike the effects that heat brings, its entirely different because it's like a domino effect.

In the last few years, our summers have been braking 100 year temperature records. DH thought he got the temperature issues, though he didn't really see it as being that much of a big deal, because we had airconditioning and as long as i cooled down and slept a lot, i was usually good to go again. He got a totally new perspective, in the middle of a 10 day record braking heat wave, and our airconditioner decided it was a great time to brake down. The day's were in the 100's and the nights only dropping to the 90's, day after day and i just couldn't cool down hmmmm i'm sure you can guess how much fun in the sun i was having.......NOT!

Pitty i can't get a tune up, like i did when the car kept over heating :D

Cheers..........JJ

I live in Kansas, where for most of the time we only have 2 Seasons: Summer and Winter.  We might have 4-8 weeks, of Spring and Fall, but that's about it.  The Summers are 90-105, and Winters are 0-40 (with Wind Chills, sometimes in the - 20 to - 40 range, i.e. lots of strong winds).

I am one of those that like the temps to be perfect! :) I am looking for a tropical island where there is no humidity, no extreme heat or extreme cold. Oh and cheap living costs. lol wish me well.

The heat wears me out and the cold makes it hard for me to move. I live in the mid west, where the weather pretty much does as it pleases. I am good with that at least it could be worse, right?

I do believe that the weather is easier for me to have patience with than waiting for test results. I do lousy with both. Have a good day all :)

Very true (both of YOU).

I can tell you this, when I was Dx'd (back in 2009), one of the things my Neurologist told me was, when it comes to Winter:  Do NOT get out, for any reason, except for Doctor's appointments, period.

When I get cold (which includes indoors, in my home), it still effects my fatigue level.  Since, I always feel cold, even in the Summer, it makes it that much worse,in the Winter.  Regulating body temperature is truly a chore, in the Winter.  My "normal" body temperature is 96.7 degrees.  In the Winter (or chilly/cold temperatures), I could actually be "running a fever", but taking my temperature, will not reveal it.

Hi there guy.

I'm like Kyle, can adjust cold conditions to my satisfaction. But even if I stripped down to my birthday suit in heat and humidity I'd still be miserable, not to mention the horror I'd inflict on an innocent public :-)

My own brand of MS causes disregulation of body temp, an autonomic nervous system issue. Perspiration can pour off me when everyone else is comfortable, a yucky situation to deal with to say the least. I live on the east coast, which is really good at producing hot, humid summers. I used to be a summer kind of lady, but no more.

Still, some MSers lose their ability to sweat, and that can be dangerous, since it impedes the cooling down process. So every cloud has a silver lining, I s'pose.

Anyway, come back more often.

Hugs,
ess

Welcome back :-)

I do much better in cold than in hot. 90 & humid is not  my fave. The way I see it, there is no limit to what you can put on to get warm, but there is a finite limit to what you can take off to get cool :-)
