IV Steroids

I have been told I am going to get started on a 3 day course of IV steroids. I would like to ask those of you that have had this what they felt like during and after they had it? Did anyone have any adverse side effects? Did you feel they helped reduce the flare up? Thanks

Hi.  I've had a 5-day course of high dose Solumedrol once.  I tolerated it fairly well except that I felt disassociated.

It lessened my pain greatly and I believe it played a role in resolving the double vision I was having.  I ate like there was no tomorrow and enjoyed food to a level I've never experienced before.  TV and food.....wasn't so bad.  It did set me on a course to recovery.

My neurologist explained that it was like turning a raging forest fire into a smoldering flame.

The infusion center told me that some folks have their infusion then go back to work.  I wasn't one of those but I was in a sorry state to start with.  This center gave me a list of side effects.  Good luck.  It should help.

I have had IV steroids twice for my flare ups. Once for a 5 day course and the second time for 3 days. It helped tremendously with the pain. However the side effects were tremendous as well. I dont know how to describe it other than I just felt...well...sick. I also had a horrible case of insomnia from the treatment as well. I am in the middle of a horrible flare up right now and seriously am hoping when I go into the hospital tomorrow that they suggest steroids, that's how bad the pain is for me. So I guess my advice if anything is go for it but maybe you wanna read up on the side effects because they more than likely will happen.
