Not diagnosed with MS yet, but my old GP (that went through all the trials and tribulations of not being diagnosed with anything yet) always thought I had MS. Now, a new brain MRI shows over a dozen white matter spots around the horns of my brain (last brain MRI I had was over 10 years ago, and one suspicious white matter showed up, but was inconclusive). When I first began to get sick (have been diagnosed with RA, Hashimoto's, Lichen's Sclerosis, and Peripheral Neuropathy), I would feel what you described. I called it my poison blood thing. I tried to explain the feeling to my husband as if poison was pumping through my veins. I could feel the blood pumping through my veins, and yes it feels different, not normal....."Yucky". When I first began experiencing it, I was no diagnosed with any autoimmune disease, and was not on any medications that would cause that sensation. So I don't believe it is caused by any medications, but rather the disease itself. Sorry for the decade late reply, just came across this post.
I feel that toxic feeling your talking about when I'm on steroids....

I used to be horribly fatigued and icky. I will occasionally still feel this way--especially in the mornings. The Provigil has helped.

Morning are the worse. I find that stretching and exercising helps also. I try to at least stretch every day. Very interesting. I wonder what it is….. AZHOMIE - Laura
Laura, I sent you a message on your board.
Wonko,
Thank you for the info. I might give that a try, it's nice to know people know what I am trying to describe. Thanks, Amy
Hi, I have no diagnosis, but I get a feeling that may be something like that.
My symptoms get worse when I lie down. So I always feel totally weird when I wake up. (I try to sleep more propped up, but usually end up moving in my sleep to more horizontal positions....) Anway, a lot of the time when I wake up, it is like I can "feel" my blood. It is a gross sensation, and I'm not sure I can describe it better than that.
For me, it is extremely helpful to stretch and exercise in the morning. Again, it's hard to put into words. When I first start to exercise, I still feel the "sick blood" circulating. But as I move around more and my heat rate picks up, the sick feeling fades a lot. I know, this probably sounds really strange, and maybe it is not like what you experience, but maybe you could try a simple stretching routine and see if it does anything for you. For me, getting the blood moving really helps to shake the feeling.
Good luck, and I hope you feel better.
I read your bio and I’m a Christian also. My family has been going to my small. local church now for almost 9 years.
I’m dealing with a really hard situation with not receiving any support from my Christian friends. It seems like they have disappeared since my DX. Do you find it hard to deal with your Christian friends and the whole faith issue? Do you always get the feeling there is a “white elephant in the room” and no one wants to talk about it? Do you get the feeling that they think you’re lazy when you have to back out of a service position? Just a few Sunday’s ago I teared up when a gal who I was once very close to (like a sister) asked how I was feeling. I sobbed during service – you see she never calls on me like she use to – I felt like she was very insincere in her question. I’m just frustrated and could use another Christian’s input.

I totally understand what you are trying to describe. It’s so hard to try and explain to someone who can not even begin to fathom where you are coming from. I do wonder if it is an MD thing???? :)
