I made it through my cervical MRI! Still having vibrations/paresthesia. Driving me insane! I have my disc. Some of the images are not clear due to movement. I will let everyone know the results.
To Mary: There is some simularities.with Fibro.
From Web MD
What Are the Symptoms of Fibromyalgia?
Symptoms of fibromyalgia include:
Chronic muscle pain, muscle spasms or tightness, weakness in the limbs, and leg cramps
Moderate or severe fatigue and decreased energy
Insomnia or waking up feeling just as tired as when you went to sleep
Stiffness upon waking or after staying in one position for too long
Difficulty remembering, concentrating, and performing simple mental tasks (“fibro fog”)
Abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, and constipation alternating with diarrhea (irritable bowel syndrome)
Tension or migraine headaches
Jaw and facial tenderness
Sensitivity to one or more of the following: odors, noise, bright lights, medications, certain foods, and cold
Feeling anxious or depressed
Numbness or tingling in the face, arms, hands, legs, or feet
Increase in urinary urgency or frequency (irritable bladder)
Reduced tolerance for exercise and muscle pain after exercise
A feeling of swelling (without actual swelling) in the hands and feet
Painful menstrual periods
Dizziness
Fibromyalgia symptoms may intensify depending on the time of day -- morning, late afternoon, and evening tend to be the worst times, while 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tends to be the best time. Symptoms may also get worse with fatigue, tension, inactivity, changes in the weather, cold or drafty conditions, overexertion, hormonal fluctuations (such as just before your period or during menopause), stress, depression, or other emotional factors.
If the condition is not diagnosed and treated early, symptoms can go on indefinitely, or they may disappear for months and then recur.
Thanks to everyone for their support :) I appreciate it!
It depends on where the tests are sent or if the test is done on site. I had my results in three days. I have heard others waiting weeks or months.
sorry for your stress. I know it's very hard to go through the tests and the waiting! are they doing 1.5 or 3t MRI's?
I just had an MRI, I've seen the report and I'm going to talk to my doc about it monday, if he is unsure I'm going to request a 3t MRI...mine was done at 1.5 strength... You shouldn't have to suffer and sounds like you need some meds to help with the tremors for sure!
Hope you get some answers soon!
Continuing on from your MRI post.......
Sooooo, your doc told you he wouldn't use a DMD because you are functional (and benign?)? And I suppose being unable to lie still enough to get a decent MRI image is functional? Because you can walk and talk and weave? Or what?
And since when does fibro have symptoms like yours? Are you really buying that? Just asking. Maybe I'm out of the know on fibro.
No MS meds because of bad side effects? What exactly does he have in mind? There are choices these days if he would step out on a slightly shakey limb. So how about treating symptoms adequately and giving Copaxone a try? If you can escape the bad site reactions there are really no side effects to worry about.
I hope Monday brings you better options. Please keep us informed!
Try to relax and enjoy yourself between now and then.
Mary
Very discouraged! Unable to get a clear picture on my cervical MRI due to movement. I laid there perfectly still with minimal swallowing but get this I was having facial twitches on the left side, thumb and first finger twitches left hand and buttock twitches and lower leg twitches left side. I also was having my old familiar sensation of current flowing through my body which feels like movement. throughout my body. They stopped the test and rescheduled it for Monday, I became upset and cried. I was in there over an hour with not a single clear picture. They showed them to me. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm afraid the next one will be just as difficult. I was fine through 2 MRI's of the brain. Sorry I'm venting but this limbo land thing is getting old as well. By the way I just found that both of my cousins who have confirmed diagnos of MS never had a positive LP. They were confirmed by brain MRI. One is functional and the other is in a W/C in the Nursing home. They are 10 + years older than me and like myself had symptoms for years. Thanks for listening...
LP negative. Having cervical MRI on Friday. Still having headache but not as bad. I'm in limbo. Nothing definitive just have my symptoms and what showed on MRI of the brain. Neuro did another exam of my reflexes. I can't keep my balance well. I have a positive Rhomberg test. They are on the upper side of being hyper responsive. He still thinks its benign form of MS or my Fibromyalgia. But can't say for sure since the labs were negative.. The treatment he says will be the same...treat the symptoms. He said he wouldn't start me on MS meds due to the side effects and I am still functional. I really want an answer! Do you think this MRI will help...he ordered it without contrast. Is there typically alot of lesions in the cervical area in MS?
My results were available a week after the LP.
Nell - STAY FLAT! And, drink lots of fluids!
Mine took six weeks but they sent the CSF to several different locations besides the Mayo to get results, plus they did blood work to rule out Lupus and other diseases.
The Spinal headache should fade a little day by day. I did not get a blood patch so it took awhile. I am sorry you have the headache.
Alex
LP went smoothly...but I have the worst spinal headache:( Now I play the waiting game!
Good luck with your LP tomorrow Nell! Do you know the drill? Do nothing for days - lots of water and R&R - no lifting, steps, etc!
Usually the O-banding takes awhile - Cjbd was lucky w/1 week results. Took mine a couple weeks, and have heard some others who had same experience. Won't be as quick as MRI results thats for sure.
Be well -hope it goes smooth - keep us posted.

Mine took exactly one week.
