MRI contrast and liver damage

Hello, all. I am scheduled for a routine MRI in a few days. My neuro sent me for bloodwork that he wanted done prior to my MRI - to check my liver and kidney function. It seems he is a bit suspect of the gadolinium, and is making this a routine test for all of his patients. Have any of you had these tests before an MRI? And if so, did you learn anything from them?

Thanks.

Thank you - very helpful. I wasn't terribly worried - but did wonder if it's normal. I guess he is just covering his behind - if we weren't all sueing one another every 5 minutes healthcare night actually be affordable.

Hi, everything you want to know about this contrast agent and even more, is at this post that Quix wrote back in June -

Your doctor may be reacting to the fear of gad that has been perpetuated by personal damage lawyers.

I have not had any pre-MRI tests done, but I think those function tests might be part of the standard assortment of blood tests done during the diagnosis process.

Anyway, I'm sure Quix's explanation will make this all clear for you.

be well,
Lulu
