MS WALKING MORNING

Hi all hope you’re all “well”, I have had a very hard time getting diagnosed. And am have been told by my neurologist that basically I was mad. One can assure you all I’m not. I recently had EVP and Electro retina gram ERG. Anyhow my eye specialist phoned me and told me on my EVP there was a difference between both eyes on small patterns.  But my ERG was totally abnormal and was the worse she has ever seen (no to low signal), I have 20/20 vision but have stars and lines appear wavy. Also night vision is getting bad. I have a retest this Monday. If this is abnormal with all my various symptoms would this be enough for diagnoses. My MRI of brain was clear.
My second question is, when I get up in the morning I find walking really hard like my legs are still asleep. The stairs are a real pain, has anyone noticed this in the morning it’s especially bad. Numbness ect. Hands and legs.  Have bought a stick today as I heard there good when out walking and your legs start to die.

ALSO MUSCLE TWITCHES AND TREMOUR IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN TAKE

Any input would be appreciated,
35 year old male

Hi Gary -

Welcome to our group. I'm also a guy with SPMS. It takes me a few minutes to shake the overnight rust out of my legs. I take Ampyra which helps through out the day.

This thread is rather old. It was last updated 5 years ago. momentoman doesn't visit anymore. I just didn't want you to think he was ignoring you :-)

I have had MS for 45 years and yes I experience a very hard time walking in the morning when I get out of bed.  This happens periodiodly and improves as the morning progressive.  It is more noticeable when I do not get a good nights rest.  It always improves very quickly.  The more I move the better my walking improves.  I have SPMS.

Hi momentoman,
you might want to take a look at the wikipedia entry on ERG's ..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroretinography

if the censor bleeps the address, just google electroretinography and go to the wiki entry.  There is a rather lengthy list of diseases that ERG's are used for, but I don't see MS as one of those listed there.

But then  I googled electroretinogram and multiple sclerosis and come up with quite a bit of interested links.  Obviously this is not a diagnostic test that can give you a confirmed diagnosis of anything - there are too many options.

As for your other question, yes, my legs are always stiff for the first 20-30 minutesi n the morning.  I attribute that to my age (55) and not my MS.

be well,
Lulu

I know how you feel. When the doc looks at you like you are crazy and they can't tell you what is wrong. I experienced that with my last neurologist, Now that i have a new one i'm gettin closer to a diagnosis.
I wish you luck and I hope that you are able to get some relief for your symptoms.

Hi there... have you had all the blood testing done?  Have you seen a Rheumotologist?  I don't think having abnormal ERG would give you a DX.. it could be one of the steps??  Not sure.. when do you see your Neuro next.

could I suggest that you write down your symptoms on a timeline.. and ask for all you results from all your tests.. keep copies for other Dr to see when you see them.

What did the eye specialist say about the results?  What causes the abnormalty?
and I don't think your Mad... but alot of us here have been told the same thing..

take care and let us know what come from this..
I'm sure others will jump in with ideas.
