MS or symptoms from C 5/6 and C6/7 ACDF

I had an MRI  in May and the findings are Multple deep and periventricular white matter T2/Flair hyper intense lesions are present radiating outward through the ventricles. None of the lesions involve the subcortical U-fibres or demonstrate abnormal diffusion restriction of contrast enhancement. No infratentorial lesions are identified.

Conclusion:  Deep and periventricular white matter T2/Flair hyper intense lesions demonstrated. These are nonspecific and ms demyelination remains with in the differential other differential include sequelae of chronic small vessel ischemia, how ever, the patient is not within the typical age range for this .  Vasculitis can have a similar appearance. I  am  47yo  having symptoms of blurred vision, bladder problems, numbness in both feet and hand. I also get very tired.  could this be symptoms from the ACDF surgery?  All blood tests have come back ok. Sorry, feeling tired and having blurred vision .Sorry for any spelling mistakes.

Kind regards Bluey_47

Hi and welcome

From what i understand those types of symptoms can all be associated with the spine, it's also bilateral which is also more commonly associated with peripheral nervous system spinal issues..

"Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a type of neck surgery that involves removing a damaged disc to relieve spinal cord or nerve root pressure and alleviate corresponding pain, weakness, numbness, and tingling. A discectomy is a form of surgical decompression, so the procedure may also be called an anterior cervical decompression.......While this surgery is most commonly done to treat a symptomatic cervical herniated disc, it may also be done for cervical degenerative disc disease. It is also commonly done to remove bone spurs (osteophytes) caused by arthritis and to alleviate the symptoms associated with cervical spinal stenosis." https://www.spine-health.com/treatment/spinal-fusion/acdf-surgery-procedure

..and since you have developed these symptoms since having the ACDF surgery and it is possible for scar tissue to interfere with nerve roots, additional disc spurs, degeneration etc structural spinal issues would be a more likely explanation....what does your surgeon, neuro, physio therapist etc determine is going on?

Hope that helps.......JJ
