MS symptom?

I have a question for everyone.  I have not been dx with MS but have been going to the bathroom frequently during the day and wake through the night to go.  I am worried that this will get worse.  I do not want to end up with in continence problems.  My mom has MS, and she is.  Twenty years of being told her symptoms were in we head.

Is there anything I can do now to help this situation.

Thanks....

Carms

The signal does not go to your brain when you have to Urinate. Pretty much everyone with MS will have bladder problems at some point for this reason. There are Urogynecologists who can evaluate urinary problems and help. Women with MS also can have trouble that has nothing to do MS.

My PCP put me on Detrol LA years ago, it was the only MS symptom I had at the time, not that we knew it was related to MS at the time.  Hind sight, anyway the Detrol LA has really settled down the sudden and frequent urges.  I still drink a lot of water, but now its more "normal" and go any where from 20 minutes to an hour.  I start slowing down on the amount of water in the late afternoon/evening, but still get up usually once a night, but life is much better.  Oh and I know where all the restrooms are located in all of the stores that we shop in, my wife thinks its humors for some reason.

Hope this helps,

Norman

It  could be related to MS.  Unfortunately, it can still take a long time to diagnose.  Everything else has to be excluded first though.  Hopefully, all your symptoms will resolve, but in the meantime- ask your primary dr for oxybutnin.  It will help with the urinary urgency.

Hello,
No i am not taking any medications at all and have not been on anything at all.
Crazy weird symptoms, good one day and crappy the next.  If it MS, it is one weird disease.

Have you been dx with MS?

I know the frustration of trying to sleep;or even to try to eat or do daily chores and have to run for the bathroom! It does become very trying! I've had all the bloodwork too~all within normal range.

I kept thinking about my own situation though, and suddenly a thought crossed my mind.Have you started any new medications recently that may have increased your blood sugar on a temp basis?! I just finished taking a 5 day course of MethylPrednisole. My first thought at taking steroids was,"oh no! I'll probably hold water or eat too much!" But I did neither! It was just the quick bathroom runs.

I have not physically felt a migraine; the only headaches I get are from medications (even acetominophen -- I seem to be hyper-sensitive to meds now).  Apparently some people get them silently?  I get pain in the trigeminal area, which my most recent doctor interpreted as migraine -- maybe it is!  Not sure how to unpack the rest of the stuff going on, however ... he told me that the muscle cramping is an obvious sign I'm hyperthyroid (except I've had all the blood tests too and I'm not hyperthyroid).

I had every blood test known to man, do not have diabetes.

Thanks for the advice :). I am so frustrated with this, I want my life back.  I know that sounds selfish but its true.  At least if I knew what was causing me to feel this crappy I could deal with it better.

My biggest fear is that I don't get a dx and end up like my mom who is in a wheel chair. It's scary.

Have you been getting migraines?  I was told that the lesions were not caused by migraines, but they couldn't tell me why they were there.  Crazy.....

Hey Carms .... welcome to limboland.  Frequent urination is hallmark for type 2 diabetes; I've had that ruled out.  I have juxtacortical lesion(s) as well!  Currently, despite meeting the McDonald criteria, I am diagnosed with migraines with auras.  My gp started me on amitriptylene for sleep -- lovely side benefits of no more muscle cramping AND it has calmed down my jumpy bladder. So maybe that's an option.

No I have other symptoms, tingly fingers and hands on left side, lightheaded, dizzy, extreme fatigue for no reason, pain in my neck and shoulder area, pain in my arms near my elbows, feeling of tightness under my right rib that comes and goes. Some days I feel fine and other days I am not myself.  Also have been getting headaches above my left eye.

Had an MRI and stated that I have lesions in the juxtacortical position and may be due to demyelination or ischemia.  I do not have high blood pressure.

I was told I Ido not have MS.  Now I am peeing all the time.

Confused...

Is this your ONLY symptom? Frequent urination can be caused by anything from drinking a lot of water, to diabetes to uterine fibroids. If you are concerned, talk to your doctor.
