I hear ya Mick. I can make it up and down the stairs OK, but I'll make ny wife drive all over looking for another parking spot before I'll agree to hang my handycap placard and use a handycap spot....what if someone who really needs it comes along....
I'm glad you're accepting the idea of having the stairlift installed, as others have said it'll help you save energy for other things you want or need to do, only they said it better:)
Take care
Mike
Enjoy yourself, sit back and relax. You deserve this, and it will make things so much easier for you. I know about the not wanting to recognize our troubles, but I know that I am so thankful for the things that are out there for our use and to help. Don't worry yourself about it, All of our stumbles we do, we come out better on the other side. So will you,
Take care,
*HUGS*

These little milestones are tough! It's just another one of those things that kind of "seal" it. I like Lulu's suggestion with the laundry and children. The cat/dog?
Anyway, I just know it will help your daily living, and in a way, I'm kind of jealous. My stairs are getting to be quite the challenge, too. And the only bathroom in the house is downstairs!
Big, gentle hugs to you! (((Mick)))
Oh, Bairdy. I do feel your pain with this one. It will be a constant reminder of the concessions you have had to make because of this MiSerable disease. Perhaps you can find some ways to amuse yourself with it - load the laundry on it to go up and down the stairs? Invite the children in your family to go for a ride - they would love it.
But most of all be satisfied that you know that every time you are using it for yourself, you are conserving precious energy to do something more important than trudging up and down the staircase. Only use it when necessary, but then do it with a thankfulness that you have this valuable tool at your disposal that can improve the quality of your life, ok?
lots of hugs,
Lulu
