Q - how come the Brits have all the good words?  I second that bugger, and say that I wish I was gobsmacked but you have alluded all along to the worsening of the bladder problem and your other MS symptoms.

I wish there was  something we could do for you to make it all better.

my best, L

Well, Here is the Q report for the week.

My Gen X niece and I deduced that the LAN card in the old desktop went the way of the dodo bird.  Since I just bought a fabulour new netbook (a Toshiba Satellite) I have a great computer for the little I do which is play here, research, and exchange emails - along with needing WordPerfect (I HATE WORD!) to write Health Pages.

So, yesterday I jacked up the old desktop and ran the little netbook under it so that it is powering my monitor, keyboard and mouse.  All is good and will be better when I migrate the data over.  Now I just need a USB hub, someway to adapt a parrallel to USB for the old hp LaserJet all-in-one, and an external CD/DVD drive.

I use an ergonomic keyboard, which is much more intuitive for me.

I also have another report, this one not happy.  Last spring I was all about improving my urge incontinence with physical therapy.  I worked so well for me to learn some behavioral tricks and to strengthen my undercarriage.  I reported in length on my progress, and also told you that about half of MSers can improve mild urge incontinence (not retention) with therapy.

That carried me through the hectic summer, but last fall I had a gradual increase in the times none of the tricks would help.  I suffered in silence and started wearing protenction when I went out - everything was still manageable.  By late January the episodes of loosing it were almost daily and the nutsells just wouldn't hold it.  My MS neuro told me to get on medication, which I had wanted to avoid because of the constipating factor.

Then several weeks ago I began having episodes every few days of what feel like bladder cramps - the suprapubic pressure of having to go magnified about 20 times and sharply painful.  When the cramps start I have two options.  Wrap my legs around each other like a pretzel and hold on to something or walk to the bathroom.  Each has its drawbacks.  Holding it allows the cramping to build until tears come to my eyes.  Eventually, about 5 minutes, the cramping will cease and I can usually make to my final destination.  However, then my bladder won't empty.  It takes two or three separate trips over the next 20 minutes to do the job.  And, I remain sore and achey and a little nauseated.

If I go ahead and walk - I lose it all.  So, it means a load of laundry and mopping the hardwood floor, but I avoid the lingering pain.

I know TMI - sorry.

No, I have been repeatedly checked for a UTI - nada.

My Uro-Gyne has been on vacation, so I see her is a week and a half.  I want meds!  I want meds NOW!

Also, my parents commented that I have been rising from chairs using my hands.  I was always able to rise straight up, sometimes slowly, but without help.  Now, most of the time I need a push up from my hands or arms.  I'm not sure when this began.

All this makes me fear PPMS because the weakness in my right leg has never done anything but slowly deteriorate.  My first good neuro whose practical experience wth MS was limited said I didn't have enough lesions for PPMS.  Well, I'm not a fan of reassurances that begin with "Not enough lesions...".  But, my new neuro whose whole life has been MS, says that he has never seen a PPMS this far into the disease (11 years) who didn't have both legs involved.  My left leg is weaker, but it is minor and there is no spasticity.

Plus I do have short periods with a renewal and worsening of symptoms, so I gues RRMS is more accurate.  My neuro did say that he thought the bulk of my disease was in direct neuronal degeneration and that I have very little inflammation - he doesn't think a DMD will help me.

So here I am.

Jazzy - They have made a full circle?  Please, start a new thread and tell us what in the world has been going on!

Thanks for all your wishes.

Until you get this straightened out, try writing all your posts on gmail, where they auto-save frequently. Then cut and paste.

Nothing is more maddening than working on a long and well-reasoned post, only to find it's gone to bit-bucket heaven!

Has your computer been talking to mine? Mine decided last weekend it wasn't going to hold a charge, despite me buying a new battery and power cord. It must be the motherboard (why is anything bad always blamed on the mother??) It would cost $300+ to fix. probably only a bit more to just get a new one! My DH tells me "Just hold off till Sunday! We will buy a new one on Sunday!"

I hope your computer starts working soon!!!

Do you need to borrow a fishing rod? Carp are evil little devils, get into everything and destroy the natural order of the eco system lol!

On another tack, spoke to my resident techno geek and he said oh that could be a few things, no short term holding (???) explained as not having enough short term memory (kid you not) he spoke at length in techno babble but basically your computer doesnt remember what you've just done, talked about fixing it by using windows VISTA (????) something about multiple windows within a window or check with your internet provider it could be there problem.

I had something weird going on the other week, i'd try and post and nothing showed up at all, couldn't work out what was going on, then my resident geek said i should go back in time. So i undid any updates, going back in time to the day before it all started and everything resolved. He's just disapeared so cant get the correct details in what you need to do but it was a fix it program within windows, i just followed the prompts and whalla!

Hope something in there made sense :-)

Cheers.......JJ
