The following is the report on my latest MRI done on 12-10-15.
Technique: MRI of the brain was performed from the skull base to
vertex before and after the administration of 0.1 mmol per
kilogram of Omniscan gadolinium intravenous contrast.
Findings: Scattered subcortical and periventricular foci of FLAIR
hyperintensity are redemonstrated. Although direct comparison is
difficult due to slice variation, there are a few additional foci
along the right parietal lobe and adjacent to the posterior horn
of the left lateral ventricle. There is no diffusion restriction
to suggest active demyelination. There is no enhancing lesion.
There is no acute hemorrhage, mass effect or midline shift. There
is no loss of the physiologic flow voids. The ventricles and
basal cisterns are patent. The sella and its contents are
unremarkable. Volume loss particularly involving the parietal
lobes is again demonstrated. Mild mucosal disease noted within the left maxillary sinus. The
remaining paranasal sinuses and right mastoid air cells are
clear.
Impression:
Scattered nonspecific juxtacortical and periventricular foci of
T2/FLAIR hyperintensity. Given history of multiple sclerosis,
there are are a few additional lesions on today's exam which may
suggest progression. No active demyelination.
Mild volume loss particularly the parietal lobes is again noted.
I guess the so called MS nurse at the VA didn't bother to specify MS protocol for the MRI so they weren't able to do a full comparison to the MRI done 3-17-11.
Also if I remember correctly all of my lesions were on the left side only.
I also noticed the left sinus disease that was noted. I wonder if that is the source of the left ear itching I have been complaining about for several years and not getting any attention from the VA.
