Not everything is MS - A funny (for a change :) )

Hi All,

I have a funny story from last weekend. The back story is that my husband always says to me "not everything is MS". Suggesting I shouldn't always jump to the "it's my MS!" conclusion without considering other possibilities.

So, we were cleaning out our in-ground spa/jacuzzi as we had friends coming over to visit. We left it late and it was now dark, but our friends were coming with their swimming costumes, so something had to be done. I was sucking up dirt from the bottom of the pool and my hubby was picking up bugs from the surface. We noticed there was some ants around the spa but didn't pay too much attention (I didn't pay too much attention!). My MS has been playing up the last few weeks with numb feet. I started to feel this crawling feeling on my lower legs, it's a feeling I have felt with MS before. I thought it a little strange, but thought "oh its my MS" and continued cleaning the spa. The feeling continued and I thought, "well I'll just look down and check nothing is there"........

ANTS all over my legs!!!! Not MS most definitely ants! I yelled ANTS! and my hubby hosed me down. Thats when he said he wasn't just topping up the spa with water but trying to wash away the ants too. The ants had crawled up my leg for safety. After he hosed me down I ran into the bathroom and striped off. There were ants in my clothes and even in my hair. It became an ant bloodbath in my bathroom. For hours later I would find the odd ant crawling on my arm...

During all this I turned to my husband and said "you were right, not everything is MS."

Great story!  I am not at all used to crawling sensations so I would have been hopping and dancing (an exageration for someone who hasn't left the ground for years).  but, it is so funny how you  could ignore it for SO LONG!  That many ants would give me nightmares.  Thanks for sharing, I'll be giggling - and shuddering - all night.

I had a similar thing happen the evening I lost most of the vision in my right eye.  Everything became very blurry, and nothing helped clear it up.  It happened while I was watching TV. It made me sad, because I'd never had any MS visual symptoms.  I figured this was the next thing I had to deal with.  A few hours later my right eye itched so I reached up to scratch it - only to discover that that lens had fallen out of my glasses frames.  I'm probaably the only MSer to cure optic neuritis by replacing the lens in her glasses.  Made me feel silly -- but at least it wasn't ANTS!  Eewe!

You don't get into your hottub do?  You know the dangers of raising your core temp don't you?  Don't make Mama Quix come over there!

That is hysterically funny ! I would have been the same, just thinking I could tough out the feelings of those ants.  I imagine it was tough to sleep that night with all the leftover sensations!

You and hubby are so right- it ain't always MS!

Hehehe, we've got to find the humor in MS, otherwise we would be depressed all the time :)

Glad you enjoyed and thanks for sharing your funny MS stories! They are helping me keep my chin up :)

Too funny!!!!!!!!!!

Had a similar experience a while back -  was asleep and since i get the random muscle twich or quiver -  I usually ignore them and they don't wake me up -  Well one night my thigh was twitching and would not stop - woke me up.  Of course the first thought through my head is "What now"!  Well reached down to rub my leg and it was my cat - kneading my leg with his paws - started laughing out loud to myself!  Dog looked at me like I was nuts!

GREAT STORY !! I understand that but luckily I didn't have ants all over me.At times I will have an insect on me and I don't know it because I am so used to feeling those exact feelings. Loved the story :)
