Sorry, but I had to have some opera therapy today to reduce my propensity for anger!

Perhaps I'll have to trek to the Kennedy Center then!

I guess a trip to the Roman bathes is always a good thing!

Opera Guy

I think that the closest to you that she has performed would be at the Kennedy Center, where she did a Xmas concert with Washington Choral Arts a couple of years ago.  She also did a concert in Tampa with the Florida Orchestra.  Charlotte would be about half way between?  I need to brush up on my US geography!  If she ever has any engagements near you, I'll let be sure to let you know.

As much as I LOVE opera, I never tried exercising to it.  I will sheepishly admit to you that my treadmill music consists of an electic mix of mostly R&B, dance, and heavy metal.  Kanye West, Metallica, Beyonce, Madonna, Nikki Sixx, Mariah, Megadeth, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, and so on.  Seriously.  I am not kidding.  Great idea about opera though.  Perhaps I will give this a try.

So late last night I'm quietly channel surfing as my husband is sleeping soundly next to me, and what do I flip to but The Three tenors singing Nessum Dorma at that concert they did at Caracalla in Rome in 1990.  It took all of my willpower not to blast the audio.  They take turns singing the different parts and I couldn't agree with you more, Pavarotti definitely has the passion.  I thought it was such a coincidink to come across this after all the opera chat earlier in the day!

Amo,

I like the british guy better.   He obviously had passion for what he was doing and it showed.

The other guy - couldn't they find another aria - Nessum Dorma is not the only one in opera, or maybe they don't know that.

Vis,

I had seen many Pavarotti versions of Nessum Dorma, but this one is by far the best in my mind.   Some think that Placido Domingo is better technically, but in my book, Pav had him in passion and power.

Jussi Bjorling is my favorite tenor though.

Your friend Laura is awesome.   I have listened to the various things you have sent plus checked her website.    Hopefully one day she will come to Charlotte and I can see her in person!

I caught Yo Yo Ma last night on of all shows the Colbert Report on the Comedy Channel.  He played a new composition that was amazing - the other members of the ensemble included a bagpiper.  She , yes- a woman piper, played that bag like I have never ever heard before.  It was amazing.   If you can find a clip of that to play you will be amazed!. ~Lulu

Speaking of Nessum Dorma, here's Pavarotti's version:

www. metacafe. com/watch /yt-VATmgtmR5o4/pavarotti_nessun_dorma/

When he hits the big notes I get serious CHILLLLLLLLS.

And here is my wonderful friend Laura singing an aria from Handel's Rinaldo (no video, so click, and just listen to her beautiful voice)

I get to see her sing in Calgary in 2 short weeks.  I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Sorry Opera Guy, are you getting sick of me talking about this?!  :)

I think I saw the british guy on the british version of American Idol.

For a non-professional opera guy he was very good!

He performed Nessum Dorma from Turandot....

I'll have to poke around when I am at home to check out the other stuff you mention...

Ironically, Maria Callas is singing on my Internet opera station as I type!

Janette, thanks I'm just trying to give everyone a glimpse of what I'm up to!

Sunny, gimme her number - I'll deal with her DIRECTLY!!!   :-)

Doni, Andre Previn?, he rocks!    Too late, I have already upgraded my weaponry to a "hello pole!"   I've got some neurologists to "greet!"

My woodworking is the only thing that is keeping me from losing it on the anger dimension.

Plus, Matthew (9) and I are going to the Wake Forest (my alma mater)/Duke football game on Saturday in Winston-Salem.  He hasn't been to campus before so we will have a blast roaming around together!   He is my studious one.   The jury is still out on Brother David!

Plus, Matthew and I will pick up CD's of my MRI's from 2003...  Yay!

Big weekend!

I know the feeling, but I usually listen to either my CD of a violinist, of course I can't remember his name, but he is just wonderful..............

Or my CD (with headphones is the best) of ocean sounds.  I pretend I'm riding my big beautiful white horse up and down the beaches..............makes my heart feel good!!!!

Okay, am I gonna have to travel up there and take that axe handle away from you before you go out and do damage?

I'm sending you hugs to help ease your anger...
