I've continued in limbo land for three years now with progressive symptoms and extreme pain. Right now my worst issues are ms hug, trigeminal neuralgia, and pudendal neuralgia.
My mri's have continued to come back negative except for certain areas they say are "suspicious" but never amounts to anything except the dr increasing my tegretol dosage until I'm a useless zombie.
Anyways, I finally begged my doctor for the lumbar puncture which is scheduled for tomorrow. I am extremely limited in the dates I can choose for the procedure because I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old and he travels constantly for work. I need to schedule for when he will be here to help me.
So now of course I come down with a head cold right before the LP, with plenty of coughing and sneezing. I'm concerned as I read that coughing/straining afterwards can reopen the hole and cause spinal fluid leak.
I called the nurse at the hospital and asked and she said a little bit of coughing can sometimes help during the procedure with the pressure. I said well what about after with the healing. She said There's always a risk of spinal headache and left it up to me if I want to reschedule.
I really don't want to reschedule because I just want it over with plus my husbands crazy schedule. But I really don't want to end up with a week long headache because I can't heal from coughing. Am I overthinking this? Or do I just reschedule until this cold is over?
