I can top your racoon story! One day years ago my mom called. She was in the house talking to my dad, who was sitting on their deck. The sliding doors were open.are you ready for this? In strolled a Bobcat!!! Yes, a real live bobcat. It roamed around, while my mom edged out of the house! After awhile, when they didn't hear anything inside, my dad got his pistol, and in they went. The bobcat was laying atop their bed, sound asleep! They took pictures to prove it!!! Finally they made a little noise, the "cat" woke up, stretched, got off the bed, strolled back out the open door, and left! They never saw it again. The lived in a little town of about 250 people, and no-one would admit to owning it! Obviously it was someones' pet that had got out of their house, but since it is illegal to keep one as a pet they wouldn't own (pun intended) up to it!
You are luck the coon wasn't adversarial. They can be viscious, and have very sharp claws and teeth. My ex-husband, when he was small, had one as a pet. It used to get up in his brothers crib, steal his baby bottle, lay down next to the baby, and drink the milk! His mother finally made him get ride of his pet, as it would hiss at her when she tried to take the bottle away from it. Strange things happen all the time, don't they!

I am certainly topped by that! My dad had a skunk come in their pet door once and several squirrels and other people's pets. A bobcat would have sent me out the front door! My little guy is a kit from one of the litters I fed all summer. They know me and consider me one of the family. He even touched his nose to my ankle as he went by.
Now...before anyone talks to me about feeding the raccoons, lol. they have been living under my front porch far longer than I have lived here. I just keep them out of everyone else' way. They even let me know when they need more kibble.
I grow my roses for the deer. And we keep the birds happy so the cats can enjoy "Kitty TV" through the window.
