hi Poppy,
Yes, Stress of all sorts can trigger symptoms. No question, but everyone is different, so listen to your body. :)
Hey you,
I'm not sure stress is even a factor in what's happened, falls wouldn't typically cause a relapse (err if they could many of us would really be in a pickle :D ) but depending on the type of fall, I definitely think the additional physical issues resulting from the fall would be enough to exacerbate existing issues, fatigue etc and basically create a prolonged pseudo whilst your recovering, similar too what can happen with an infection induced pseudo.
It's apparently possible for high levels of stress to actually cause a relapse, but it still seems to be one of the more difficult to definitively prove theories. I think so far, there has only been an anecdotal association with researchers still trying to work out if stress, can cause more than pseudo relapses.
From what i can recall, the issue is mainly because people react to stress very differently, but all the unique stress inducing situations people experience is probably endless, short vs prolonged, physical vs psychological etc more than likely has something to do with the difficulty of working this one out too.
In regards to yesterday's car accident (daft NZ sheep, hmm don't your sheep know the road rules over there?), it would still be too soon to tell if it's more than a pseudo or not. Even without sustaining a substantial or visible injury, you would of still been forced to function under duress, adrenalin really pumping, muscles straining etc and then potentially experiencing some level of shock afterwards........imho a relapse is too soon to consider yet.
Cheers.....JJ
Thanks Alex.
I've had a couple of calamities over the past ten days and now seem to be paying the price with neuro issues.
Last week I got off my horse, landed wrong, sprained my ankle and ended up face first in the dirt. Yesterday I crashed the car into a stray sheep on our road and did a substantial amount of damage to the car. I really hope things don't go in threes!!
Poppy
It is pretty typical. Any stress can set off a relapse.
