Seizures & possible MS

This is kind of a continuation of the thread "Seizures & MS" but as it started so long ago and the posts are many...my eyes are bad and reading so much strains them,I thought I'd start a "new" thread.Gypsyflyer made a great contribution to that thread, but by the time I finally reached it,my eyes were very tired. But thank you very much gypsyflyer;this subject arouses my curiosity.

My grand mal seizures (controlled) are due to epilepsy.I recognize the fact that these are two distinct diseases. But as both affect the brain,I feel that one predisposes a person to the other.

I often wonder if my MS has in some way compromised my health in a way that my body can be more susceptible to other disease. Your example of a two-fer is a good one. - Laura

No,I've never asked my neuro about it,but since I have an appt with him Monday,I will write that down as a question to ask him! I'll be getting back with the forum to report on that appt and will let you know what his reply is to that question!

It is true that once your immune system is compromised you can,for instance,be more susceptible to other autoimmune diseases. It's not uncommon for example, for a person who is diabetic to also have MS and vice versa.

I've often wondered the same thing.  Have you asked your neurologist if one condition makes you more likely to have another?  There are others here who have similar things going on:  like MS and Myasthenia Gravis for instance,,,
