Sensitivity in extremities

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well today. Have any of you experienced extreme sensitivity in your hands, arms or feet that are already tingling/numb/electric zaps? My right hand, arm and foot have become extremely sensitive to hot and cold water and touch. I know everyone's experiences are different but do these symptoms usually happen at the same time or are the symptoms worsening? Thanks for input guys.

Thank you Alex for your helpful response. I am starting to realize that every day brings new surprises and experiences with my body and mind and that I should just add them to the list to bring to the doctor.

I felt so grateful to come upon your positive life list and it sure put challenges beautifully and clearly in perspective for me. I love your style and grace and practicality. What a wonderful friend you must be to those around you. Your words mean a great deal to me. I'm sending you a beautiful sunny day to enjoy tomorrow. I know you will squeeze every drop of joy out of it!

Here's a big hug from southeast Texas!

Sincerely,
Diane

Hello. There are two processes in MS which cause symptoms. The two main types of symptoms are muscle spasms, cramps, etc and nerve symptoms which can be pain or sensations. The two process are inflammation which causes symptom while you have inflammation. This could be days, weeks, months, or even years. When the inflammation goes away so does the symptom. The other process is nerve damage with nerve damage the symptoms are permanent. I have a lot of nerve damage because I have Primary Progressive MS and have had it since I was 2  am 51. My muscle spasms go from my neck down into my right hand. I have them every day. I also have electrical zaps in my left foot and pain at different times due to how much I walk or stand. I can't stand to hold anything out of the freezer I also can't touch things that came out of the oven. Sometimes it feels like I had a cattle prod to either foot but not at the same time. I also bite my tongue or the inside of my mouth every day. I take muscle relaxers for muscle spasms. I have been on Gabenpentin, Trileptal, Lyrica, Amitryptiline, and some other drugs for nerve pain. Each person is different. It can take awhile to get on the right medications.

Each person is different because for each person with MS different nerves are affected. The most important thing I learned was to speak up to the doctor. They can help. I am lucky because my MS has not changed in years. I am used to the weird symptoms.Extreme spasming is bad sometimes nerve pain can be unbearable. There are things which can help.

Alex
