T2 FLAIR hyperintensity

I had a recent MRI and the report said the following: "Again notes is s right frontal cortical area of encephalomalacia underlying a right frontal craniectomy. There is minimal adjacent gliosis and susceptibility artifact, unchanged since the prior study.  There is no abnormal intracranial enhancement. There is a cavum septum vergae, a normal variant. Minimal area of T2 FLAIR hyperintensity in the subcortial white matter of the right frontal lobe is nonspecific."

I continue to have numbing in my face and a throbbing/tingling feeling on the top of my head, along with migraines.  The doctor states the only help for this is medication, which in return makes me drowsy unable to perform daily work and duties at home.  I want to fix the problem not medicate it.  Is there anything else I should seek before giving up?

If it were MS they can't fix it. They would suggest medicating symptoms. Most medications get better with time. Your body gets used to them.

Hi there,

To be completely honest, I'd have this conversation with your doctor/specialist. They have the knowledge to be able to answer your specific questions probably better than others.

You could speak to someone else and others here might give suggestions to raise, but I'd go back and say if you're not happy. Maybe write it down in a letter if that is easier to do?

Hope you get a better resolution.
