They want me to see a migraine specialist for possible MS.

I went to my doctor for issues I've been having that she thinks are neurological possibly MS. When I set up an appointment they put me with a migraine specialist. My question is would he be the best doctor to see, or should I request a diffrent specialist? I've been getting almost week long migraines every month along with a lot of other things like; clumsiness, running into things, dropping things, knocking stuff off tables, falling down the stairs, ringing in my ears, forgetfulness, stumbling over words, misreading words, forgeting words, extreme fatigue, and leg pains. Im sure I'm forgetting some other stuff. Im not sure what is wrong I guess it could be anything.

Thank you both, I think I will just go with this doctor and see how it goes. I don't only have these symptoms when the migraine is around, they are almost every day, But they could still be related somehow.

My first neurologist thought I had MS from my first MRI. He was leaving town so he referred me to a neurologist who was a headache specialist. She did MS testing on me which showed MS. She said there was no way I had MS. When I questioned her she fired me. The next doctor was a MS specialist and he diagnosed MS. Some neurologists specialize in one thing but are good at diagnosing others. There are few MS Specialists. There are 5 in our part of the state. You might have to wait months to get an appointment. I might keep an open mind. See if this doctor has an opened mind.

Hi and welcome,

In general, when it comes to MS it is usually better to see an MS specialising neurologist but at this stage your symptoms may actually be migraine related so seeing a neurologist who specialises in migraines isn't a bad start. Keep in mind that if there is more neurologically going on or not, you'd typically have some additional test evidence for the neurologist to determine if you need to see someone else in any one specific area of medicine, or if it's his area of expertise....it might even be helpful to see a migraine neuro first.

Cheers.......JJ
