The same morning as my ER trip,I climbed some stairs.I felt light headed and short of breath. That surprised me a bit because I've been in better physical shape due to physical therapy and exercising at home. The things that are going on with me make me wonder if my autonomic system is being affected.
When I was at the ER that night an EKG was done,as well as a CT scan and blood work.Everything turned out normal.
That's a good place to start. Sorry to about your Mom. I know that couldn't have been easy. I hope you find out what's going on, I know my Dad would feel like he was going to black out. It was very scary to watch him decline.
I know I was probably hasty in deciding that MSA sounded like what I might be facing.
What I was going by was several things.Number 1: My mother who died almost 3 yrs ago before she could be diagnosed, had been seeing a neuro who told my sister he thought she might have a form of dementia called Lewy Body Dementia. She had been hallucinating, lost her appetite, was falling frequently and injuring herself. She had to use a walker to get around because her movements were no longer smooth. Number 2:Starting with my mom,and then me and my sisters--all have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia without Drs really looking into what's going on with us
Number 3:Actually I had more than just dizziness or what was diagnosed as vertigo. My blood pressure had shot up sky high for no reason.Just 2 wks before when I saw my Dr it was very good.Other problems that I've been having for awhile are blurred vision, sleep apnea and bladder problems.I did make a Dr appt for tomorrow with my family physician to get started looking at this.
I read your post , but had never responded here before. I'm not sure how your correlated MSA with being dizzy. My Dad had MSA. Although it can present with many different symptoms that is usually not one of them. His blood pressure would drop upon standing and was way too low except at night when it went way too high. There are many other symptoms that go with this horrible disease that is 100% fatal. There is no cure and all they can do is treat symptoms. Go to your Nurologist first and let him/her figure out what is going on.
Hope you are feeling better and get the answers you need soon.
Hi, sorry no one has commented on your post, I did read this when you first posted but honestly i wasn't sure how to respond.
You mentioned feeling Dizzy, which can be caused by so many things and most are usually simple to determine the cause but if you past every test, blood, heart, tilt, hearing tests, neurological tests etc then all i can think is if you could be taking a medication eg for pain or something that could of caused the dizziness?
I'm really not understanding how you came up with Multiple system atrophy from being dizzy that one (?) time, it seems to be a rare condition and dizziness wouldn't in my opinion be significant compaired to the many other more obvious neurological signs. see below...

Sorry if that isn't very helpful but i'm sure if someone has anything to add they surely will when they can.
Cheers.......JJ
I did research because no one here had commented on my post;and I really needed answers. What I came up with was Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA).
It sounded all too familiar as I was reading. The neurologist who was seeing my mother shortly before she died was thinking Lewy Body Dementia. But she died before he could make a diagnosis. She was in the late stages.
